Meh, most beautiful small towns in every state article. You've been to which ones?

Carmel, CA
New Castle, DE
Camden, ME
Cape May, NJ
New Hope, PA
Hulett, WY

I think I’ve been through a few others but cannot confirm.

Saw a similar slide show on abandoned towns. They were mostly old mining towns in the west but Braddock made the list with its population going from 20,000 to 2100. Man, I remember how vibrant it once was

I counted 13 of them as I remembered. I was surprised to see Taos NM as its most beautiful when places like Cloudcroft or Los Alamos were available. Taos has the mountains to the north but so does Los Alamos and Cloudcroft is on top of the mountains. So many great places to see and visit. Some must have been near misses on this list.

Berkeley Springs, WV
Hulett, WY

Or Do you agree or disagree?

Thanks in advance.

I've been to a few...
Bisbee, AZ is nice but Sedona maybe the most beautiful place I've ever been.
Carmel, Cambria and Carlsbad CA. are all awesome.
New Castle is nice.
Cape May is one of my favorite places in NJ.
Taos, NM. Awesome
Marfa. They mention the Taos hum(never heard it) but no Marfa lights? its ok but I liked Terlingua better.
Middleburg, VA is nice.
Berkley Sprnigs, WVA. is ok but I've been to nicer places in WVA.

I would have picked Abiquiu, NM but agree about Cloudcroft.

I'm not familiar with Abiquiu NM so it sounds like a place we should visit, Lord willing. I'm not down on the area around Taos but I never felt the town was that big a deal on visits passing through. Up in the mountains, the ski valley resort is spectacular.

FWIW, I thought Santa Fe was beautiful. But I only drove through it on my way to a golf course.

Abiquiu is about 50 miles or so north west of Santa Fe. Its an incredibly small town. Georgia O'Keeffe lived there and at Ghost Ranch.
I highly recommend it.

Princeton, NJ (great University town with mix of corporate residents)

Wellsboro, PA (PA’s Grand Canyon)

Lumberville, PA. (What New Hope used to be before it was over run with tourism)

Watkins Glen NY ( racing, waterfalls, scenery)

Can’t. Agree. More.

I’ve said this many times before, and I’ll say it many times again - Sedona is one of the very few places I’ve visited that far exceeded all of the hype I’d heard prior to visiting. It is truly mesmerizing...the crown jewel of the entire American landscape.

Surfside, FL? This is the best small town in FL? Yeah, no. I'd suggest it's Jupiter, but since I've been here we've poured enough concrete to go from population 25K to over 80K, so no to that as well...Juno Beach would be a great answer because it actually IS a small town of around 3.5K people.

Beaufort, SC
New Hope, PA
Middleburg, VA

Lots of pretty in those pics though - some places 'on the list' now!

didn't watch the slideshow, but if you have Maine, NH, and VT you really don't need anything else

LOL, I love New Mexico but said I couldn't move to Albuquerque because I can't spell it.

some pics of Abiqui. I think I have them marked because I have some from the Bisti Badlands mixed in...

We drove through Espanola, didn't realize how close we were to such a unique small town. There are so many in NM but also so much desolate stretches in the central to south eastern area. Did you cross the US 64 bridge over the Rio Grande? Quite a scene and an odd feeling when you stand on the offset hanging over the something like 500 ft. drop to the river. Of all I believe we enjoyed Los Alamos the most but taste is unique.

Wish we visited Bisbee as we were in Tombstone but timing was tight at the time. So many places with so little time. I needed to become a professional vacation consultant or something like that to visit more places.

I kind of liked Espanola but it definitely has a good side bad side of town. But than I live in Balto. so I'm used to that.;)

Did you get to Tent Rocks or Bandelier? Both are close to Los Alamos.

Yes I did the Rio Grande Gorge, I think its a National Monument now. I walked across it and went out onto one of the bump outs to take some pics and was able to do it even with my fear of heights. But I did not like it when the tractor trailers went over it and it bounced up and down. No bueno.

I also liked Las Cruces.

Like I said I love NM but parts of it are pretty desolate. The central east part that borders Texas is brutal.
The dichotomy between the have's and have not's is huge.

Yes, I forgot the remarkable feeling you get when standing on a bumpout when a tractor-trailer flies by.

We did visit Bandelier and an abandon native village, I forget the name now but they were both lovely with remarkable views. I still have photos our our children climbing the ladders leading to the cliff dwellings. I specifically remember passing a VW bus, painted like a Holstein cow with a set of Texas Longhorns hanging off either side somewhere along the way. I have used that pic. in presentations labeled as a European Longhorn Beetle. Of course these presentations were for pest control and lawn/landscape seminars so it had a unique appeal.
