Forgot that this is the all knowing board! I would get these migraines that felt like something was pushing my eyes out from behind them! In 96 or 97 I started wearing a Citizen Eco-Drive dive watch (still wearing it) and have never had one since. The timing is/was a definite coloration! Other than being a coincidence based on some other change in my life, I've always wondered if it was the stainless steel against my skin 24/7, as I only remove it showering, or the electric impulse from the watch? I'm prepping for the wise guy answers! ;)

I’m glad that you got relief from your migraines. No answer to your question, but used to work with a woman who had some sort of magnetism issue where she would throw off some electronic devices she used. Maybe there is something to your watch theory, working the other way than my former coworker.

Well, you could stop wearing the watch and see if your migraines come back.....

But my theory is back in 1996 or 1997 you got lucky for the first time.....or changed who you were dating (or you got divorced).....or you stopped cold-turkey being a Pitt or ND fan.

My migraines started the same time. However mine started then because the fda approved artificial nitrites in food at that time. I figured that out 3 years ago.

No migraines since I cut out processed foods.

IDK but I wear the same watch everyday!! But I don’t take if off to shower! I mean why??

Having suffered migraines in the past it's great that you no longer have that issue. Mine stopped in my mid 20's for no understandable reason to my knowledge.

It the watch appears to be the target I'd keep in on forever to avoid a migraine headache. I know that food can trigger them as my mother found with her migraine's when she baked she would take small dollops of the sugar-filled baked items. The next day she had migraines, very bad ones. Eventually, she associated the treats with the problem and she ceased to have the treats and voila, migraines gone.

Many, many years back I got what I thought were migraines. I am not a coffee drinking but when I drank coffee they went away or at least got much better. Then one day they got unbearable. I mentioned it to my dad and he told me I might have high blood pressure. I went to my doctor and sure enough that was the problem. High blood pressure medication stopped the headaches. The caffeine in the coffee was dialating the blood vessels in my tiny skull. Just goes to show you the things that cause medical issues and the different things that can help them.

The interior collateral nerve runs parallel to the inner wrist and forms a junction there with the posterior medolius maximus. The infusion of nebulus tactile pressure to this junction, likely supplied by your watch, creates a positive nerve aura which pulses to the front mefula globus of the brain. This process short circuits the tactile postisis aura and the result is a resolution of your migraines. Or something like that.;)
Caution: I am not a doctor and the above is not to be relied upon by this board for any reason. It is bullshittus maximus.

By any chance, did you also start to grow hair on your palms at this time?

Same with me. If I go to many days with out caffeine I always seem to get one behind my right eye

Worked in migraine research for quite a few years. Still poorly understood what exactly triggers them. However, dilation of cranial blood vessels and resulting overactive pain signaling are the result. Very difficult to understand the pain for those who have never had this type of headache. They do tend to dissipate with age for many people. I hardly get them anymore. Stopped for the most part in my 30s. Highly, highly unlikely the watch has anything to do with it. But why mess with a good thing.

Highly unlikely????? The same way docs used to tell me that food didn’t cause mine????

Now research has proven that at least 75% of migraines are caused by food or environmental allergies.

Sorry if taking away something causes migraines to stop then it’s pretty easy to say what caused them.

Yes, I say wearing a watch is highly unlikely to cure migraines. But as I said, why mess with what is working? It is known that migraines tend to decrease with age. Maybe they all bought watches? Could stop wearing the watch and see if they return, but lots of things probably have changed I the OPs life over that time. I know, I know individuals on the internet know better than the people who actually practice medicine.

How about the people that suffer from them and have PROVEN by trial and error what caused their migraines?????

I always love docs that can’t find a medical reason for something working so they try to discredit it.

It took me four years to find the foods that cause my migraines. Guess the reason I don’t get them is just because I’m “older” and not because I avoid those foods now. Lmfao. Whatever dude.

My dad used to kill watches at an unusual rate. He stopped wearing one on his wrist. Remember those rubber coin holders from the 70’s? He took off the band and stuck the face in one of those. Carried it in his pocket. Worked better. Now he wears a Fitbit all the time. I guess whatever the problem was before doesn’t impact a Fitbit.

I am glad you found what works for you, as well as the original poster. In the end, we are all responsible for our own health and are free to follow whomever's advice we choose. You are right, the medical community does look for reasons why something works, because that is the way it can be prescribed to the masses. Anecdotal evidence doesn't work that way for everyone. Just like everyone know someone who lived to 90+ and smoked a pack a day for 50 years. This is not beneficial to everyone, but was fine for this person. Not really interested in debating the plusses and minuses of the medical community. People are free to follow whatever advice they choose and believe in.

How old were you when the migraines started, and how old were you when they stopped?

I never suffered from migraines when I was younger. I started to have them at age 44. I suffered with them for 21 years but have only had a few during the last two years.

Be very, very careful, that watch is now out of warranty.

Sugar causes mine, specifically peanut butter cups but usually the big cups or Reese's eggs etc. I love them but I'm scared to eat them or when I do I take 3 Advil right after.

BBQ restaraunts can trigger it too, whatever is in the food or just the sauce, not sure.

Gave up orange juice years ago too, seemed to be a trigger with vomiting.
