Just met a girl in my office who goes to Urbana High School in Frederick MD. She was wearing an FTK bracelet and I asked her what PSU connection she had. She then informed me that her school did a 6 hour mini thon here in Frederick. I didn't ask how much they raised but she said it was the first one to happen in MD, which I do believe is true. The founder of Urbana High School is a PSU Alum and even picked blue and white for the school colors for that reason alone. Their football uniforms look just like PSU. It is great to hear that the reach of Thon is spreading and that many more people can get the treatment they need. FTK!

I think there are over 60 high schools and grade schools in Pennsylvania that do mini THONs. Good to see it spreading to Maryland schools as well.

A parent, her daughter, their Girl Scout troop, and my student council started a Thon in North Texas last year. We raised $12k at one middle school. This year we got a second middle school to participate. We raised over $16k and the other school raised $13k. Our beneficiary is different, but the concept is really spreading.

University of Maryland also has a Thon in its early stages. Maybe 2-3 years old at most? Proceeds benefit a different charity of course.
