I saw this back and forth last night and got a kick out of Don Lemon stating that the minority is electing presidents and getting SCOTUS. For people that say they've championed the rights of the minority, I find this stunning.

My daughter is taking a test on the constitution as I typle this. During the constitutional convention, the Virginia plan was to have a rep for every x number of people. The small states knew they'd be hammered and back the New Jersey plan which was to have a senate with x number of reps per state. The great compromise was a bicameral house so that the majority and minority had power in unity.

If the majority ruled, women still wouldn't vote and we'd have never had a civil rights act (or LGBT rights). This is the way the system works and should work. This is just part of the checks and balances put into place by the founding fathers to avoid tyranny and limit absolute power in any of the three branches of government.
