I just read the AP article. The opening sentence says former PSU president Spanker was convicted of hushing up sexual abuse allegations.

That's the frustrating part of this ugly saga in a nut shell. He was convicted of a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment (I assume for failing to report, not for hushing things up).

The article goes on to say that the 3 officials told JS he could no longer bring children on campus but they did not report to authorities. That part is true but it fails to mention that they reported it to JS's employer who was a child psychologist and a mandatory reporter.

Accurate and complete facts just don't seem to matter.

And you're surprised by this?

Rampant yellow journalism is hardly something new for our free press here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Unfortunately it's been around since Day One, and with the advent of the internet has been given a tool to blanket the nation and the world at the speed of light with its witch's brew of errors, omissions, half-truths, fabrications and innuendo.

Sadly but realistically, the fact that yellow journalism is ultimately driven by the profit motive means things aren't likely to change anytime soon.

Once a media narrative is established about a particular story, it tends to remain in place. Contrary facts or developments are ignored or discounted. Heaven forbid that a questioning of the original narrative should happen. Pure laziness and group think seem all too common among journalists.

I think the reporter had his story written in his head before the verdict came down -- you know, certain phases he was going to use etc.

I mean, he was going to use the word "hush" come hell or high water since it had never been used before in this saga.

Another smug asshole who thought he was being never before seen clever. But FAIL.

The scientific equivalent are those who present the opposite argument on global warming.......never to be heard from again. Two groups of professionals who now seem to be moving in herds.

Don't even post this crap here. If anything, post the entire article in text or with that new scroll app. We certainly don't want hits originating from this site.
