Ive been to OSU, MSU, U of IL, UW, UofMI and NW, and Id give the nod to NW because of where it sits on the lake. But its often cold, even when the sun is shining, due to the chilly wind off the lake. Still, its an impressive campus, close to Chicago/transit and a great school. ( I'd rank PSU at the top but excluded it to eliminate any "possible" bias.
)
OSU is a scattered campus but the Shoe is impressive. U of IL is a great school with a nice college stadium./campus. MSU reminded me a lot of UPK without the mountains. Spacious flat and very....collegiate. Very similar "feel" to UPK. MI was less impressive. Not quite sure why. They also had the worst recruiting/placement service of any school I dealt with. . UW was pretty nice. (had an old flame who went to grad school there.)
I recruited for many years at OSU, PSU, UMI, & MSU ( plus Syracuse, Akron, Kent State, and Clarkson.)
PSU had the best recruiting services by far and if someone didnt show for an appointment, they jumped all over him/her. Only had one no-show during all my visits there..
We hired engineers on an annual basis so it was very convenient to prescreen 250+ resumes and narrow it down to 25-35 solid candidates for a typical two day visit. Hence the large BT schools were a dream come true.
Most of our hires were from OSU and PSU, in that order.
My son, The Buckeye, and a buddy have madee a goal to attend one OSU away game per year at a different BT campus. So any recos of the other BT schools to see would be appreciated.
