Shoop is as good as gone. He wanted out, for reasons we'll never clearly know, and I really don't care what those reasons are. What I do care about is we have a head coach who wants to be at PSU and, to me, that is the cornerstone of stability.

Franklin has been clear that he is "fiercely loyal" to his guys, right? I am hopeful Shoop's cowardly exit (plus his flirting with LSU last year) has made James come to the realization his loyalty is a one way street, especially at this level. Loyalty doesn't exist any longer.

I do know one thing-- Franklin is smart and is the CEO of our program. He will fill the spot with a top-notch coordinator and I'm hopeful the program does not lose a stride.

Should Shoop decide to return, I'm afraid the bridge has been burned and I, for one, would be in line to run him out of town.
