Last week, Michigan State’s Demetrious Cox was reportedly cited for an assault in which he said he was “falsely accused.” On Thursday, the Lansing State Journal released details from a police report involving Cox’s charge.
According to police, Cox was “drunk and lost” and punched a cab driver in the nose during an altercation last month. The driver reportedly wound up in the hospital with a broken nose and Cox had a blood alcohol level of .22.
From the Lansing State Journal:
The reported incident happened at 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving). The Spartans closed out their season two days later against Penn State, and Cox did not make the trip due to a “violation of team rules.”
Cox was a senior and team captain in 2016.

From the Lansing State Journal:
Cox, 22, tried to give the man directions to a residence on Oakridge Avenue, but ended up giving the driver “directions exactly to where he had been picked up,” the records say. At that point, “(Cox) began getting very aggressive.”
The driver told police Cox eventually refused to pay for the cab ride, then set down a burrito and began to punch him.
The driver fled to a nearby 7-Eleven and called police. He was later hospitalized and found to have a broken nose.
