ESPN gives us a 71% chance to win. Why don't I have that level of confidence?

A bit of a sloppy start but up by 4 with 7 minutes to go.

PSU blows a double digit lead down the stretch. Tied at half. A couple of turnovers lead to MSU points. MSU posting up down low, PSU guards drop down to help, MSU kicks it out for wide open 3.

Njie is frustrating to watch. You can see the potential but he left 6 pts on the board because he wasn't strong or confident enough to handle the ball and go up strong.

35-35 at the half. I still don’t understand why PSU doesn’t play some zone. Teams just keep pounding it inside for easy buckets or fouls.

Dangerous time for PSU. Pickett is going to need a few minutes to rest. Really need Wynter & Funk to step up.

D. Johnson is regressing. He has a nice shot but lacks the confidence to make it.

PSU guards have allowed MSU to dribble past them and pull up for open 16' shots.

Win probability has gone from 71% PSU to 74% MSU.

Same story every season: No Bigs.
We had a big last season.

I agree it's a problem but I think it's more than that. This team just doesn't know how to win. They don't have the swagger/confidence. PSU loses close to VT & Clemson and now MSU.

If you can play with these teams for 35 minutes you should be able to play with them for 40.

Lundy has been great but a dumb reach foul give MSU 2. Dread us a great FT shooter but misses front end. MSU dictated the pace so almost all 3pt shots. It's attitude and PSU doesn't have it.

This is a game that ESPN gave us a 71% chance to win and we started out strong. MSU made adjustments and PSU stopped running their offense.

Dread had 9 pts in the 1st half and I think he only got 1 shot in the second half.

MSU made an evening out of wide open shots from the elbow. Gotta do something defensively to slow down opponents’ inside game. And they seem to get away from perimeter shooting in the second half of their games and that’s their strength. Looks like it’s going to be another season with a losing record.

Probably around 8-12 conference mark and that would put them right at 14-14 overall.

PSU had a good start but as soon as MSU made a run in the second half we stopped swinging the basketball. It was all Pickett & Lundy going one on one.

Those step in 15'-17' shots shouldn't happen. I wonder how much was fatigue. Pickett played the entire second half.

Poor in game coaching.

Agree with all. Key moments were the extra possession to MSU on the elbowing foul on 3 and Dread's 1:1 miss. Blocked lay ups on 3/11/and 4 hurt along with missed free throws in general. Was surprised at one point we had maybe 15 while MSU had shot 4 or so.

Game for the taking and MSU #11 took it. Close...again. Micah brought it. We don't have the horses....

We need a big man but other than that we have the horses. We just haven't learned how to win.

Maybe if we compared the stats of their freshman center vs ours therein lies the difference tonight? Their 0 stepped up.

I like our team and enjoyed watching the game- we have a weird combo of many older players who are reliant on freshmen inside. Henn was brought in to be that experienced difference, but vs VA Tech he seemed to favor the 3, missed a few shots and got into quick foul trouble. I don't think he saw the floor last night...

They will get it. Long season, injury, etc...they will win 6 home games and figure out how to get 2 on the road.
I hope so, it’s just looking like teams that looked like our “sure” wins aren’t looking that way so much any more. If we keep trying to beat teams in the second half by going inside and getting away from our strengths, we won’t win 8 conference games. And relying on turn around, fade away jump shots is not a recipe for success for anyone. We’re better off throwing up threes all night.
