He showed the way to sway independents in a blue state. Pound away at Dem idiocy but don't be hyper ideological about it. (He supported raises for teachers). Gracefully accept Trump's support but keep him an arm's length away.

My prescription for a 2024 presidential victory. Run a true but non-ideological Republican (DeSantis or Pence for example). Trump's actual policies were reasonable -- shouldn't be that hard to do. Accept Trump's support but make clear that you are not Trump and demonstrate much better personal skills and less unnecessary aggression/vindictiveness. If Trump wants to be actively involved offer him something like Secretary of State or Secretary of Transportation.

Of Course, Trump would have to agree and decide not to run. Almost sure in my mind that he is determined to run. In any event, would hope there is a slick way to placate and respect most fervent Trump supporters and avoid the personal negativity baggage that will always be attached to Trump.
