Exactly. All these people think these guys are being gyped. Guess what, it is a lot of give and take. The athletes get to showcase their skills on a stage which cannot be equaled, they also get free education and treated very well - allocations which many of them were not to receive if they could not throw a ball, run fast, etc. To imply that college athletes get treated like dirt is ridiculous and short sighted.
Additionally, for every one of these guys, there are ten others waiting to take their place. Supply and demand. If the price isn’t good enough for you, on your way, next up. Same as everyone else.
That said - I think there should be no minimum age for pro sports. If someone wants to pay a teenager millions for his skills, who I am I or any of us to say no? More power to them. I think they need to be educated on money management, because as fast as they get it, it will be gone.
I've got no problem with much of what you wrote. Just be aware that Alston has the potential of significantly changing what college players receive, maybe not immediately but over time. One good thing is that it will put the NCAA out of business as a regulator.
