On April 30 there will be primaries for the vacant NC 3 Congressional seat left open when Rep Jones died in Feb. Oiur local paper (Sun Journal) asked the 20+ candidates, Repub, Dem, Conservative.... if they think budget deficits are important. They were also asked what they would do to reduce those deficits. It was surprising to a certain degree when almost to a person they agree deficits are a problem. They also mostly agreed that a solution to deficits would be a Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment.
This got me to thinking what that solution might look like. Not to mention it sure seemed like a prime example of a 'bumper sticker solution' to a complex problem Me, I don't think that is any where near a solution - what say you?
How would a Balanced Budget Amendment solve the problem of budget deficits? How exactly would the Amendment be implemented (I think all the candidates failed).
I don't think a Balanced Budget Amendment would ever fix our deficit problems and any attempts to institute such a scheme would be totally unworkable.
