125: An upgrade, but still equals very minimal or no points even if he qualifies at B1G

141: Once seemed awesome, now seems very solid. TBD

157: 0-25+ points potential is quite a range.

165: No, I'm not worried about Cenzo, but barring a huge B1G tourney, no question his path difficulty has increased.

197: Should get us more than 4 points this year, IF the appointed wrestler stays healthy throughout tourney season.

285: Looking good at this point to improve or at least match 2017 tourney.

(Is this discussion too broad or downright unnecessary? Is it ALL about Jason?)

What in the world is there to worry about with PSU wrestling? We have the best coaching staff and a team full of kids that put it all out there EVERY match win or lose.

What more can you ask for? Will Nolf be healthy, will we win NCAAs this year? I don’t know it has to be played out.

Personally, win or lose I am super excited to watch these kids shine again. If they happen to fall short, I’ll still be proud because they always give the effort. At the end of the day that’s all you can ask for

Okay, I'll just sigh, and ask you to please delete this thread, Tom. I posed a question pertaining to competition for a NCAA Championship and the mathematics necessary to secure one, and it instantly turns down a can't-you-just-love-our-kids path. As a father of 6 children (3 proud graduates of PSU like their father, with 1 currently attending and 1 more headed that way!), I assure you, I want ALL students at Penn State to "shine," athletes or not. I'll work my questions through other threads, so just extinguish this one.

Well what would you like to hear?

Yes if Lee AAs, Zain and Nolf win Joseph ends 1 or 2, Hall 1 or 2, Nickal wins, Shak 1-3 and Nevills too 6. We will win going away.

You asked if we were worried or excited. Obviously excited. But why worry about it I guess is my question to you? If Nolf isn’t healthy enough it hurts no doubt. Can we still pull it off without him? Who knows.

I would love to see what some of our fans good with stat projections think if Nolf doesn't wrestle.

I’m praying he goes. If not I still can’t see losing if you have 4 champions and 3 AAs. I believe we have a shot at 5 champions without Nolf. Shak would be the guy to be 5th champ and I see Nevills from 3-6. Lee 5-8

Obviously a lot has to do with Ohio State guys do but we can only control what we can do.

Difference between y'all and OSU is on the way to the finals, Bo will have picked up bonus in a few more matches than would have MyMar. OSU has one guaranteed champ in SNyder. PSU (w/o Nolf) has one guaranteed champ in Zain. Zain will score more on the way just because he won't have to deal with "fat boy wrestling". (Since Bo has lost to MyMar, I am not calling him a lock, but he is pretty f'ing close).

All in all tOSU's depth gives them a SICK advantage at Bigs. That advatange is lost in a bigger tournament to PSU's "It's not worth winning if you can't win big*" attitude.

No doubt tOSU has huge advantage at B1Gs (Without Nolf)because of the smaller field. Was strictly speaking on national tourney

Oh then worry about y'all sig. other setting up some BS appointment during the finals that stops you from watching. THAT's the big fear for PSU in my book in Cleveland lol.

Worried?
O$U 9 AA’s, one champ (Snyder) maybe 2 others (NATO, Moore).
PSU 8 AA’s, two champs (ZR and Bo) maybe 4 others (Nolf, Joseph, Hall, 197 lbs).
Iowa 6 AA’s, maybe one champ (Lee).

This could very well happen:
125 Lee and Suriano beat NaTo.
133 Keener rd12, Pletcher doesn’t win
141 NLee places higher than McKenna
149 Zain beats Sorensen and Hayes stumbles
157 Nolf beats Kemerer and MJordan
165 Joseph beats IMAR and Marinelli
174 Hall beats BoJo and Valencia
184 Nickal over Martin
197 PSU over Moore
285 Nevills places third over “Troll” and hope Coon beats Snyder....

Won’t be close if so!

Excited

tOSU vs PSU (Totally unscientific)

125 - NaTo now has one more stud to get past (tOSU +16)
133 - Pletcher is not a bonus machine (tOSU +12)
141 - In spite of last week's result, I think Lee outscores McKenna. (PSU +4)
149 - Hard to know where Hayes will land, but we know where Zain will be Saturday night (PSU +18)
157 - A lot of variables here, but Jason is an unusual athlete (PSU +10)
165 - CJ has a minefield to go through, but Campbell doesn't look tournament ready. (PSU +10, conservatively)
174 - Last year BoJo scored just 1 bonus point and was lucky to get through the semi's. I see 3rd or 4th place for him (PSU +6)
184 - Probably a PSU/OSU final. If Bo stays basic, he wins (PSU +6)
197 - Moore is another Buck making a big weight cut, I think Shak outscores him even if he's a step or 2 lower on the podium (PSU +4)
285 - I'll go with last year's spread (tOSU +14)

PSU with 16 point margin of victory.

Always look forward to March. Can't win forever. See: Iowa. If PSU winning feels like a relief, you're doing it wrong.

Just like in the dual, bonus points will make a big difference. If Nolf is healthy we pull away Friday night.

This is exactly right. It is also exactly the reason that when you have 5 returning champions along with an emerging stud at 141 and a solid HWT, you REALLY want to cash in on it. Not to feel "relief," rather to maximize your potential in what is a limited window of opportunity, as you point out.

I'm excited along with a touch of anxiety. I'm not worried. Worry doesn't help tomorrow but take's away today's peace, heard that from a wise man I know.
