The selection show will be on ESPNU tonight (11/26) @ 9pm Eastern.

Penn State is a virtual lock for the #1 seed and will host a regional.

Congrats to the 2017 B1G WVB Champions -- The Penn State Nittany Lions.

What a match last night. lt will be interesting to see how the brackets are set up. Will they put PSU and NU in the same bracket so they have to meet in a regional?

Extremely unlikely. Nebraska is almost certain to host a regional, as well. If Nebraska is a #2 or # 3 seed, Penn State and Nebraska will not meet until the national championship match, provided they both win their regional and their national semi-final.

I thought someone that follows this stuff far closer than I do said they didn't think Penn State would be the number 1 seed due to RPI. Florida or Texas was who I thought they said would be. Florida-Texas-Penn St-Kentucky/Nebraska in that order? No? Make sense

As long as Penn State hosts a regional (lock) I'm happy.

Penn State is #1 in RPI. They locked it up with the win at Minnesota last night. PSU is also #1 in the AVCA poll, the Rich Kern poll and the Pablo ranking.

Penn State will be the overall #1 seed -- guaranteed.

Thanks for the update! I'm guessing they were lower last week and whomever was talking about it just didn't anticipate them jumping to 1.

They were fourth in the RPI last week. People who didn't understand how the RPI works were all running around stirring things up trying to create controversy about some sort of conspiracy theory.

Thanks Unfortunately that happens a lot.

Aren't the regional sites independent of ranking and are pre-selected and the committee can place the teams in any region they so deem? So unless PSU and NU have been selected as regional sites the possibility still exists. NU has been chosen in the past to host a regional because of their attendance figures. Not sure if, or how many, regionals PSU has hosted. Speculation on my part. We will soon know.

Maybe I misread your post. Have both PSU and NU been selected to host regionals? I haven't been following as closely as I have in the past.

The cmte will tweet their top 4 (the regional hosts) thirty minutes before the selection show airs. Nobody will know for certain until then; however, given past history and current rankings, it seems very likely that Nebraska will host.

I read that the highest ranked team in each bracket after the first two rounds gets to host the next two rounds

Two from the SEC? That sucks. The B1G co-champion isn't a No. 1 seed?
Nebraska has 4 losses (3 early season), with one to a team ranked pretty low in the RPI. I think they they were in the 5-8 ranking in the RPI going into the weekend and didn't play anyone impressive (lower tier B1G teams).

No. That's changed. Highest seed gets the regionals.

Penn State's bracket looks pretty soft as it should for a #1, though a potential national semifinal opponent of Kentucky (previous #1 RPI) or Big Ten 19-1 co-champ Nebraska is a tough final four draw if get that far.

The 1 and 3 seeds, and the 2 and 4 seeds on the same sides of the brackets. That seems odd. Usually 1 and 4, 2 and 3.

Lol... Pitt in the 2nd round.
Can't wait until we demolish the pitters. This will mean that we will have slaughtered them in football, basketball, and volleyball this year. The only sports they can take any delight in are women's volleyball and wrestling. We don't have a wrestling dual meet with them this year. Too bad. Hopefully, in the NCAAs we get to embarrass a few of their wrestling dandies.

...Pitt doesn't have any wrestling "dandies"... however they do have some good kids - including former Lion Stout - who are trying to revive interest in wrestling in Western PA ...
... I wish them well... we need to rebuild the sport in places that have had some success - like Pitt, Iowa State and Fresno State...
...but thas jes my opinion... :)

Don't count on playing Pitt in the second round. VCU has the best blocking stats in the country and their schedule really wasn't much weaker than Pitt's ACC schedule.

They should really explain that on the website. They only say regionals will be held at a "non-predetermined location." It sounds more like we haven't decided or planned where they'll be played.
