NCAAs have gotten out of hand

Just got an email from the PSWC about suites at PPG Paints Arena. Price per ticket is $2000. MSG looking like a bargain today - it was "only" $800.
...and actually there were two levels of suite tickets at MSG, one was $500, the other $800. A bunch of suite seats were sold, allowing many, many more PSU fans to see the show. Last year, the suite seats were $1389 per seat, and by appearances, did not sell out. This year...$2000.

Does anybody know how exactly suites work at PPG arena. Are they privately "owned"? Are they leased yearly for all events? Are they property of the arena and leased on an event by event basis?

At least you get emails from the club. I donate yearly and get no email.
Fwiw friends of mine secured suite tix via local company at $ 700 per many months ago.

IDK. I've been a member for over 20 years and bought suite seats in 2016, so that may (more likely the latter) have something to do with it.

Fwiw, only inquiries have been sent, so the club can gauge interest. Those inquiries are sent to past suite takers. If there's enough interest, given the prices, an attempt will be made to reach everyone. It's early and while the PPG Paints Arena has been contacted, all they said was that they are putting folks on waiting lists.

After posting the info above, I saw matter responded too. He is correct.

Talk about inflation. I sat in a suite in Philly and it was $300, which was double the price of regular tickets that season. I'd be more than willing to pay double the regular price, but $2k per seat is just ridiculous.

So only past suite takers were emailed? Does that gauge interest? I can tell you I am not interested at that price but to only inquire to past suite takers doesn't really gauge interest in my opinion.

It makes sense because there has always been more interest than seats available. There was never really a need to open it up to those who hadn’t purchased a suite in the past. This year, I expect the same. It’s a bummer for those of us who feel the price it outrageous and won’t/can’t pay a $2000 price tag. There are probably just as many that can/will.

Supposedly they did not sell out suites last year.

Thank you for your opinion. Duly noted, and appropriately considered.

I'm talking about 350-400 suite seats, a plenty significant number to "gauge interest".

Since you're interested enough in my post to respond... Have you ever had to call other school's ticket offices to try to get NCAA Tickets? Have you ever talked with the venue managers at MSG, Scottrade, Quicken Loans, PPG Paints, or other, to work through THEIR process to secure suite seats? Now multiply those calls times 10 or more, and you get the level of time and effort the individuals in the PSWC put in, all voluntarily, to just get the tickets that help out a few fans. Yes, at a cost, which is outside these volunteer's control. Tack on the time it takes to plan all other aspects, and it's simply amazing to those of us that see it up close.

Hey, Roar, sounds like you have a new volunteer.

It's really making me miss the days when I could drive from NYC to Princeton's Jadwin Gym and buy a finals session ticket for $8 at the door. It wasn't THAT long ago, was it?
