New Orleans...

Here are a few.

Commanders Palace...recommend doing lunch or brunch on the weekend. Lunch has .25 martinis.
Jacque-Imo's restaurant....go on a Tuesday night and catch Rebirth at the Maple Leaf next door. If not, just go to Jacque-Imos...great food.
As a heads up, I don't believe that Jacque-Imos takes reservations (maybe they do for large groups?) so get there early, put your name on the list and go next door (Maple Leaf) for a drink while you wait (the host/hostess will stick their head in and alert you when your table is ready). Also, if the night you are there have an appetizer special called alligator sausage cheesecake it is a moral imperative that you order it.

Cochons is a great place if you have a craving for flavor and a different menu.
I'd actually recommend sandwiches at Cochon Butcher (next door to Cochon) rather than the sit down restaurant. Both are good.
Central grocery for a muffaletta.
Antoines
DDay museum
Spend some time on Magazine street, good shops and area.
City Park and Audobon Park are both nice. City as the Museum of Art and Audobon as the Zoo behind it. Right across from Loyal and Tulane and you can take the street car to get there.

****Be careful at Frenchmen, get out of there earlier as the crime late at night there tends to spike. Just an FYI.
There are enough people around that unless you don't have your wits about you, you will be fine. However, when you leave the bars (and have had a couple), I'd recommend a cab/uber because it is a long walk back to most of the hotels (e.g. on Canal) and some blocks can be deserted (which could invite trouble).

Pretty good list, LJ. A few comments above in red.

I'll be there for work in August. This discussion has me planning out my eating and drinking schedule months in advance.

Alligator cheesecake is the bomb. They also have a really good rabbit app as well. Also the bread pudding souffle at Commanders is the best desert around.

Second Mothers. The debris sandwich is a must. It's cafeteria style and the lines can be long, but it should be on a NO visit list.

I actually think Mothers is a little overrated. I know, sacrilege. Here's my issue: if you go for lunch the wait is ridiculous. In a city with that many good restaurants, I won't wait 45 minutes to eat lunch. And it's not like you put your name on a list and go do something else; you have to stand there in a line with a bunch of sweaty tourists. So the time to go (in my opinion) is for breakfast; if you get there right when they open, there line will be short. However, I don't think their breakfast is that great. I'd strongly recommend the Ruby Slipper for breakfast/brunch. Really, really good and there are multiple locations in the city (one in the CBD near Mothers).

Agree with this.
