Cain was my "biggest" surprise ( heh-heh) Cant wait for him to take a few hand-offs and rip his own holes up the middle, especially with so many OLine seniors & starters doing the blocking. Fries-Menet-Miranda-Holmes-Thorpe-Walker-Whigan-and maybe Scruggs provide our best depth in quite a while.
Speaking of SENIORS: we have just 11 of them this year, NINE of whom should start or see serious back up time. Still below average in number, but playing an increasing role on the field and with leadership.
JUNIORS: Wow. We have 30- count 'em - thirty Juniors. TWENTY of whom should play significant roles. Our leadership and experience level continues to climb....away from the incredibly heavy frosh and soph-laden teams of recent years.
SOPHS: 25: seventeen of whom look to play significant roles this year. Also, some of our best overall talent is in the sophomore class! This group, despite their youth, will have a major impact on our success in 2020.
FROSH: 40 !!!! Still the dominant class size by far, there are also MANY potential contributors in this group , especially at the WR position. Overall, Dumore-Porter-DIXON-Jones-Dottin- CazHOLMES-TankSmith-Beamon-Mulbah-WORMLEY-WALLACE-Strange-Ellies-Vilbert-COLE all have shots at PT/providing depth/or even breakout seasons. (Caps are my picks for Big Years. or, in the case of Tank Smith, for clear-cut winner of NAME of the Year ( and a RB no less!) Watch the student body go wild when he comes into the game!
CJF continues to make strides at better balance between classes, and building team experience/leadership. Next year we should be pretty close to achieving that balance, which ought to better enable us to play smarter, keep our heads when things arent going well, and not get overly self-impressed when they do go well.
CJF is on the verge....merely by smoothing out the peaks and valleys between SR-JR-SO-FR class numbers, all while continuing to stockpile high-end talent to the roster in a regular, steady manner. Now if we can just add a couple top end players to future recruiting classes..... That combination - of talent-depth-experience- plus improved coaching, could put us over the top.
