Not a Rutgers fan normally BUT, might have to become one if this test works out to be effective. Saw this recently in the news............ I think it was USA Today source........
"A new coronavirus saliva test developed at Rutgers University that could dramatically accelerate the rate of collections and limit exposure to health care workers could be rolled out as soon as Wednesday. The test, which can be self-administered, will allow for broader population screening than the current nose and throat swabs used at testing facilities, Rutgers officials said. The saliva test also lessens the need for valuable personal protective equipment during the testing process."

Definitely a move in the right direction. Rutgers researchers compared results from the saliva tests against those from nose and throat swabs and came up with 100% matches.

Issue is the next step. Testing labs are already running up against capacity and materials limitations.

Wonder if J&J was involved with this. Have a friend whose husband is involved with the legal end of research at J&J, and was informed that J&J was working with Rutgres on "the Coronavirus issue" (her words not mine). There could be other things going on as J&J gets involved with Rutgers on research but would not surprise me if they were involved.
