The takeaway is that unless Shea really is injured and will improve he's going to get destroyed against any good defense. He was awful today. Let's hope Harbaugh is stubborn and refuses to go to McCaffrey.
Army giving a team trouble isn't surprising. OU responded fine from it last year.

Lol now Michigan will be ranked top 5 and even more playoff hype. PSU has a game like that against a non ranked opponent, and they don't deserve to be top 25. Smh

If Michigan is the 7th best team in the country, all polls are nothing but jokes

Except they use the arbitrary preseason rankings all year and if you only lose once, and start near the top, you’re in playoff contention. See notre dame every year.

Wouldn't any P5 team with only one loss be in contention? Notre Dame shouldn't even be allowed to qualify but that's a different discussion.

That play would’ve been reviewed for 15 minutes if that were any other team.

I still think it’s a fumble but isn’t the test whether the arm is coming forward and whether the ball came out during that forward motion?

PSU dropped about 2 or 3 spots last year after App State, so my guess is that UM will bump up 2 or 3.

In all honesty, that game is why I love college football.

I think Michigan was just awarded the National Championship.

if we beat Michigan is doesn't matter where they're tanked tomorrow. We can't control it and shouldn't worry about it.

Meanwhile, A&M looks good early against Clemson.

Much different circumstances. Army dominated TOP having the ball for 44 minutes against OU. Today, they only held the ball for 31. There is a big difference in the perfect game of keep away vs Michigan unable to put points on the board. OU only punted once.

Your feature back getting 33 carries for 100 yards is NOT good.

Shea looks very sloppy. And this is two weeks in a row vs much inferior competition. His WRs dropped a lot of catchable balls as well.

No we wouldn't. We'd drop a spot or two.
The objective is to win. No team falls too far when they win.
We had guys like Joel Klatt that didn’t even have us ranked...double OT against Army would justify all those doubters...we’d drop way more than one or two spots.

Don't misunderstand, Michigan's not good right now.

Klatt already admitted he was dead wrong, right? And that was after we beat up an FCS team.

If we beat Buffalo tonight by a score or in double OT we'll still be in the top 20.

btn will probably come up with some horseshit like this is the type of hard-nosed win that will galvanize michigan and ready them for big ten play.

“Gritty win”
“Overcame obstacles”
“Army is a top 25 team”
“Dug deep”
“Became men”
“Stepped up”
“Harbaugh”

Any other team:
“Season is basically over”
“Flukey”
“Refs should’ve taken a peak at that” (Herbie)
“Deserved to lose”
“Won’t be able to beat Harbaugh”

PSU would drop out of the top 25...Michigan (like Oklahoma), not so much...they will stay in top 10.
Pretty much. They will stay above the LSU/Texas loser. They will probably stay above A&M. And at the end of the year, everyone only counts losses. So if you are a Michigan athletic supporter, no harm done today.

We don't really want them to drop far or be a BAD team. We just want to beat them.

If they are a bad team & we beat them it doesn't help us.

If they are highly ranked when we play the in a few weeks, and beat them, it helps us

As an Out of conference game, it wouldn't even cone into play going into the Big10 playoff.

Root for all of them in big10 until they've beaten us.

(But I was still rooting for Army)

Penn state losing to Pitt in 2016 ultimately helped Ohio state. Michigan losing to army also couldn’t hurt with regards to recruiting.

That's true. But OSU was ranked higher preseason and had only the one loss.

But you're right, there are weird scenarios where a Michigan loss here might have helped, but in most any I foresee, we've got to beat them regardless. And it is better if they are are also undefeated when we do.

In most of the scenarios I can imagine, A Michigan loss today would just weaken the overall case that Big10 deserves a playoff spot. They've already weakened it slightly even with a win.
