CONGRATULATIONS to the 4 NLWC Members below!! And Congrats to Bo Nickal, Jason Nolf and Nick Lee who also made the National Team. And a huge thanks to all of those in the Club that helped make this possible! Great showing!! Very impressive!

who coaches the women? How many women train with NLWC? Some showing for NLWC!

Do all of the team members travel to the Olympics or are they just training partners leading up to the Tokyo games?

I would bet they cut wayyy back on athletes in the village this of all years.
Lots of info already out there with more coming according to the IOC. Athletes should not arrive more than 5 days prior to their competition (for wrestlers, it's August 1), and shouldn't stay more than two days after completion of their competition. Recommended is that they stay else where for the two days after and not in the Olympic Village. Sure sounds like practice partners, etc. will be minimal, and it doesn't look like they can stay in the Olympic Village (may be wrong about that).

Arrival only 5 days before competition. That’s tough.

I would be curious if USA wrestlers head over earlier and stay off-site in Japan for light practice, acclimate to the time zone & establish a regular schedule.

As a bonus, wouldn’t mind seeing Gable Steveson roll with or Dake Bomb a few sumo wrestlers. 😆

A Hawkeye, a Buckeye, an ISU transfer, and a pretty girl that wrestled college in Canada are all wrestling on Penn States dime soon in Japan... that is just.. I don't even know what to say. Who would have ever thought that would happen?

No- Burroughs, Cox, Zain, Yianni, Gwiz, Suriano, Spencer Lee.. Wow. I am getting worse at predicting the outcomes of these matches!

Are Steveson and Snyder going to walk on each side of Gilman for the entirety of the JAPan Trip? Like having 2 Kevin Costners on each side of Whitney Houston. Kinda ;)

School mascot, school mascot, school name, prettiness/gender/country. Way to go with the parallel structure! You have to repeat middle school! ;)

I don't like to compliment Iowa, but they really showed how to save some dime at the trials. Congrats

I’ve said it for the last 5+ yrs. Elite wrestlers want to train at what is now the center of USA wrestling. Maybe the center of global wrestling. It doesn’t matter what their alma mater is. The best continue to flock to HV! A third of the national freestyle team will train in the Lorenzo Center. Let that sink in... the PSU influence continues to grow. Nobody is doing what Cael and crew are doing at this level. They continue to expand their influence on the sport.

Just an odd, odd post

It was a wild weekend of wrestling. Overall I really like the freestyle team the US is sending to Japan.

-Gilman is so gritty and tough to score on. Great handfighting/controlling the center of the mat. I do hope he opens it up a bit more than he has. Start turning those 1 point moves into 2 or even 4 pointers. I do think Spencer is better, unfortunately it's just not his time yet. I would also pay good money to watch Suriano and Gilman wrestle best of 3. Covid sucks

-Oliver looked pretty sharp and in shape. I sure hope he makes the most of his golden opportunity. Get qualified first and foremost! Zain and Yianni still have me scratching my head a bit..

-Dake doesn't really have any weaknesses or areas that can be exploited unless he makes a rare mistake. He is in his prime. My favorite freestyler. Nolf has probably never been beat like that ever in this sport. Humbling for him I'm sure.

-Taylor looks huge. He wrestled 103 in high school? Bo didn't know what to do with him.. DT is not far behind Dake in talent. Elite

-Snyder looked really good against Moore. For some reason I thought it would be closer. No Cox, no problem for him. Sadulaev is near the best in the world P4P especially since he "filled out". Tall task for anyone! BTW I also would pay good money to watch Cox and Snyder best of 3

-Gable is a man child. He moves so fluid and fast at his size. A rare talent. 20 years old? He puts fully developed grown men to shame.

Really looking forward to the games! 5 years is a long time to wait. I 100% support all of the athletes the USA is sending including Greco-Roman and the girls! Congrats on being Olympians! How cool is that?😀

Another poster mentioned this and I agree- Dake is 100% a defensive wrestler. Almost exclusively works off of counters. It’s a risk with the int’l referees. He’s got to work on initiating.

Jason might disagree. Dake was aggressive with JB right off the bat too but generally is defensive.

That was me. It's the first thing I thought of when I realized he is now our guy at 74kg in japan.

The interviews of DT, Gilman, Snyder, and Maroulis after the trials are four of the best recruiting videos for PSU you could create. All gush about the environment, the coaches, the training partners. 4 champs at NCAAs, 4 champs at Olympic trials is gonna push our recruiting success into overdrive.

Dake has won mulitple world championships, I think he will be fine with the international officials. Dake is great at adjusting to whatever the conditions are. Need to be offensive, he is...need to be defensive and counter, he can.

5 PA kids, 2 Illinois, 1 Ohio, 1 Missouri transfer, 1 Drexel transfer, only 1 from Iowa.... all wrestling on Iowa’s dime. who would have ever thought that would happen. probably only coaches smart enough to go after the best possible talent and competition in order to be the best and win championships
