Impressive. A 1st, 2nd, and 2 3rd places from a small squad. Can't beat that. All placed above their seeding
Who is the head coach of this team? Can't be cael is it.
Seriously though at this level everyone is a stud and their high school ranking means jacksh!t. So coaching must be a high factor in success one would think.
So maybe just maybe it could be said Cael is at least a decent coach. Right?

Does this kinda undermine the Hawks fans and their belief that Spencer Lee can only get the training he needs in Iowa?
Unless the seedings changed from this announcement, Varner & Taylor finished at their seedings. Was still a good weekend for the club.
A lot of people seem to think Tom and Terry are the best FS coaches in the country (at least I read that a good amount on the different boards) and heading into the trials they had the #1 and #2 seeds (at Spencers projected FS weight) in the HWC, so I think that is where a lot of the comments come from. Hopefully Cael and crew have shown they are capable of getting results not just in college but internationally so this can only help with Spencer, IMO.
A lot of the comments I see qualify Tom & Terry as the best "lightweight" freestyle coaches. I think it's pretty apparent that the NLWC is stronger at the higher weights, and credit goes to Cael and Cody for both the recruiting and coaching aspects. A well deserved honor for the NLWC, and the strength of that organization is a key component to the recruiting angle for PSU.
Awesome, was about to post this query myself. How is this award determined? Is it a human vote, a committee or something? Or is it scored, with some system of team points awarded for either Placement, Bonus, or Advancement--or all three?

I don't know the criteria for this award, but I do know Ohio State always gets the bronze.
The headline is wrong. OP meant to say best freestyle RTC. Clearly the Minnesota Storm are the top RTC in the country with two 1sts and two 2nds.
