#7 James Franklin
One of the winningest coaches of the College Football Playoff era finally has his first CFP appearance, guiding Penn State to the 6-seed after finishing as the Big Ten runner-up. Franklin is 99-41 as the Nittany Lions coach and riding a streak of three straight double-digit win seasons to go with four top-10 finishes since 2016. But now comes an interesting test for Franklin and his Penn State program because while they have been the most consistent winner to not make the playoff, there is also a less-than-ideal record against top opponents. As we know, the CFP is, by definition, filled with top opponents.

The good news is he's rated higher than our first two potential opponents

This list is BS. Ryan Cooper Day at #4 ? OK, whatever.

List looks reasonable. The only one I disagree with is Sark, unless I'm mis-remembering that he's generally under performed expectations.

Dabo being ranked ahead of CJF is BS. Dabo has feasted on a steady diet of cupcakes for the last decade. If CJF would coach against teams like Wake Forest, pitt, NC State, etc. each week then he would be ranked higher. It is telling that Dabo has never been approached to coach a team in a decent conference.

I think that's fair and a valid point
CJF's record against top teams is just so horrible they told it against him
