Football PSU ranked No. 4 in latest CFP rankjngs

For me, Ole Miss is the last team of the contenders that I'd like to face. They are way up there in the talent/underrated category. In other words, it would take a lot to beat them and you won't get the credit you would if you beat a GA, AL, TX or ND.
Ole Miss is a very tough team to figure out. They lose to Kentucky (20-17) but then curb stomp Georgia. But I agree, they would be a very dangerous team to play in the Playoffs - for anyone - especially if the team that beat Georgia shows up (obviously).

They are a very good team, and probably the most talented and complete team in the SEC (how did they ever lose at home to UK?). However, how would they play if they had come North and play perhaps at Beaver Stadium in December when the temperature could be in the 20s with some type of snow when a lot of their players probably never have played in those conditions?
Weather will certainly be a factor for all Southern teams, but how much? 7 points, 3 points? Lane Kiffin can probably travel an offense that makes Allen's head spin regardless.

For any SEC team that never leaves its geographic zone that has to play in Columbus or State College or Provo, weather definitely will be a factor. You aren't dealing with NFL players who play for Southern or Western teams who have played in cold and snow before. Many of these SEC players who are from the South never have experienced playing in 30 or 20 degrees and in possible snow. Can you imagine Ole Miss playing at Beaver Stadium if the weather is like the 1987 ND game or the 1995 Michigan game?

Feel like we are talking past eachother, im agreeing that weather will be a factor, as just being on the road in someone else's stadium. I'm certain on a neutral field, the betting markets would lean Ole Miss against Penn State. In Beaver stadium on a cold winters day? Maybe we are 3 point favorites.

I'd be surprised if Ole Miss would beat PSU at Beaver Stadium in December.

I would be surprised if PSU could hang with Ole Miss for the first half.

Bama just hung 42 on LSU at night at Tiger Stadium in a Monsoon. Don't see weather being a factor any more than a "whiteout" being one.

The order I'd want to play SEC teams
1. A&M
2. Tennessee
3. Ole Miss
4. Texas
------big gap----
5. Alabama
6. Georgia

Bama and Georgia aren't having great years but they're battled tested and have more talent than us. Smart is also still the best coach in the country. Beck's issues and the unknown with DeBoer are the only reasons I think we have a shot against them
Texas has more talent than us but I feel like Penn State/Texas are essentially the same team
Ole Miss is hit or miss--they lack consistency. They beat Georgia and South Carolina plus played well against LSU but that Kentucky loss is really bad and they looked like anything but title contenders against OU
Tennessee has absolutely no offense right now and while I like Elko I don't see A&M as a threat.
Obviously I'd rather play ND or Boise State but that's how i see the SEC breakdown. And coming north could give us a small advantage though.

Weather can be a factor for sure, ask any if the PSU players who were recruited by SEC teams and they will tell you that one of the talking points is that 'you will never have to play in the cold'. It is a mindset that depending on how cold, if there is snow, etc that can completely take a team out of the game early

Having a coaching staff that shits itself on the big stage can be a factor as well. We have substantial solid evidence there, right? As for the weather, well just ask any PSU player - there is an expert, unbiased opinion.

UGA has to beat UT this Saturday or I think they are out.
Yea, with a 3rd loss you would think they'd be out but they'll use their "killer" SEC schedule in their favor. You just never know and the committee has already stated that the SOS will be HUGE in the new 12-team Playoff.

Georgia is toast if they lose to Tennessee this weekend
