Word is that he's canceled his OV to Baylor, and is going to USCw, who recently offered.

Ok, someone please tell me why we want this kid?

I don't know what his intentions are but cancelling a trip to Waco and going to Los Angeles in January sounds like a good decision. Maybe he's taking full advantage of his official visits even if he has no plans to go there.

What are the odds this guy doesn't actually pan out at the college level?

this is starting to remind me of the recruiting drama of Vidal Hazelton

Los Angeles is home to:

th

The WORLD'S BEST Pajama Store!!

Jimmah was raving about it......Quinn wants to go see it in person!

Why begrudge a kid from having fun with the recruiting process. As a kicker, this will be the last chance for any glamour. Once he's on the team, he'll either be the goat or invisible. The problem I have is with coaches... cough... Harbaugh... cough who take the side show into a three ring circus.

I would love for Nordin to come here, but if not then I only care that he goes somewhere other than Michigan. I respect Harbaugh as a coach, but he's a flat out whack job.

I want him here because we will help him and he will help us. It may take a few bumps and bruises when he inadvertently slips in the shower a few times but he will leave here a better person and team mate and we will have one less weakness while he is kicking.

He's a stud kicker! That's why we want him..

How many damn games were influenced by our bad special teams play over the last several years. Kicking has been a huge part of it. It changes games, field position, momentum, etc..

He's bad JuJu. Dump him on the roadside and keep reconstructing the wonder of Penn State.

Has Harbough even offered him a schollie? If not, the lovefest seems a little over the top, don't ya think?

Yes, so he can have new jammies when Harbaugh comes callin' again.

Meatchicken already has two scholly kickers- one 5th year senior and one red shirt freshmen, I don't think they will have 3 scholly kickers on the roster, I see it as USC-PSU battle now.

To me, he sounds like a wacko prima donna who loves being the center of attention. Just what I want in a kicker.

If it were me, I'd take full advantage of this opportunity. He will never have this in his life again. Get pampered. Get spoiled. Take the official visits. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. But sign that letter to PSU in February.

I think you need to lighten up.

Agree with others that this guy may not be the real deal he thinks he is. Hopefully staff doesn't waste any time going out to Michigan just to see him.

Yep, he is a freek'n kicker!!! And a good one. The good ones are mostly instable and divas. Hero today- goat tomorrow.

All kickers need medication. The kid is good and he knows it. Lets just hope he ends up in PA.

Nearly every loss of the Franklin era had something to do with poor punting, kicking, and coverage.

The biggest "need" BY FAR is a punter, not a kicker.....and we have gotten ourselves a very good one.

I won't talk about punting....but in reality our kicking game was NOT as bad as everyone thinks it was.

We had 25 out of 66 touchbacks, solid....but 6 kicked out of bounds and two returned for touchdowns. In comparison, our opponents had 11 of 58 touchbacks but with only three kicked out of bounds. And as bad as our return game was our opponents averaged less than 3 yards a return better than we did, even with their two touchdown returns.

The really good news, with two new kickers, we were 18-21 on field goal attempts; the 3 we missed were 45-49-55 yarders. In the other hand, hard to believe we missed more extra points (we were 31-35) than field goals.

"Big Toe" and Davis were certainly better than we had any right to expect and they should be better with a year of experience under their belt.

Nordin would be nice but Gillikin is THE GAME CHANGER.....!

I want him because he's damn good at a position of need. If you lived in Michigan and had a chance to go on an all-expense paid trip to SoCal this time of year, wouldn't you do it? I sure as hell would, regardless of where I decided to attend.

Right. He strikes me as a pretty smart kid. And I still think he's coming here.

They're getting a hell of a lot of rain in LA about now.

I'm going to put the rest of my post in caps (after this sentence) so some of you guys can get over yourselves:

MICHIGAN'S SPECIAL TEAM'S COACH "LEFT" (YOU CAN READ INTO MY USE OF QUOTES IF YOU WANT) AND TOOK THE SAME JOB AT USC (WELL RETURNED TO IT AS HE HELD IT BEFORE HE WENT TO MICHIGAN FOR A YEAR). AS THE SPECIAL TEAMS COACH AT MICHIGAN I HOPE PEOPLE HERE CAN REALIZE HE WAS A IF NOT THE CENTRAL FIGURE IN A KICKERS RECRUITMENT. THUS HE BROUGHT THAT RELATIONSHIP TO HIS NEW JOB. THUS WHY THIS IS NOT OUT OF THE BLUE.

CAPICHE?

I want him to decommit and recommit somewhere else just so i can see another one of those "Affluenza Teen" private jet videos that he so humbly produces.

He's a teenager. I would take my visit to LA if I was in his shoes. I think we have a good shot at him. Let it play out.

This thread is embarrassing. If I were Nordin, I would take the free trips too. Personally, I would be really proud to have the #1 kicker in the country on our team and of course a player of his caliber is getting the attention he is. After everything our school has gone through, we should be welcoming recruits who want to play here...not bashing them.

I get it...some people are bashing the kid because it's a preemptive defense mechanism for disappointment. If he does flip, they've already detached themselves emotionally by saying, "I didn't want him anyway." Really--it's simple-minded and could very well cause a self-fulfilling prophecy. Hopefully Nordin doesn't read these embarrassing threads, but if he does, then he's likely thinking, "Wow...well maybe I'll go play somewhere where I am actually welcome." And guys...you know Harbaugh and some of the other coaches. They very likely could be printing off your comments and reading them to him.
