North Carolina just fired Mack Brown

I'm not saying I want JF fired, but stability doesn't mean success. OSU has had greater success with the Urban drama and transition to Day. Meatchicken has been awful but wound up wth Natty. Washington played for the natty last year. Oregon has been up and down but is currently the unanimous #1 in Lanning's 3rd year.
OSU has 2 nattys since 1970. I think I know another team that can claim the same.

Yea, I will take that kind of instability over stable mediocrity. Mediocrity isn't the won-loss record. It's whether you are a contender on occasion or always a pretender.

UNC QB commit is visiting PSU this weekend.
Huge to get him on campus in such a quick turnaround. Based on some interviews the dad has given, he's not going to be in a rush to make a decision. Sounds like the kid/family still really like UNC regardless of Mack. He also said he wants to see what happens to the OC but I think we all know he'll get shit canned as well by the next regime. I'd assume though that Baker's family will at least wait to see who UNC hires - this will probably go into the second signing period.

Have they ever? I don't remember, it seems they have always been mediocre. It's a basketball first and foremost but in this day and age they can do a lot better in football.
Agree.....a great Bball school....football program has not been successful and is boring.

OK, let's do this....24 vs 23 offense so far

2023 Offense
  • 18.9 completions on 31.8 attempts per game for 60%
  • 215 Yards per game passing
  • 194.8 Yards per game rushing, an average of 4.7 ypc
  • 43.3 Yards per Game in Penalties with 0.6 turnovers per game
  • Total Yards per Game 399
2024 Offense
  • 19.4 completions on 26.8 attempts per game for 72.2%
  • 253.2 Yards per game passing
  • 192.5 Yards per game rushing, an average of 5.2 ypc
  • 44.1 yards per game in penalties with .8 turnovers per game
  • Total yards per game 445
I'll add that the games have fewer drives this year due to the new clock rules
I have hope for this OC, but this season's schedule seemed easier. Add in a game where PSU got shut down by last season's Michigan team and it seems the stats would be pretty even.

The running game this season seems like it took a small step backwards, and the passing game seems better because of the improvement of Warren and the gradual maturation of Allar.

They really have what it takes in that area to be great. Excellent school, beautiful campus, population that's loaded with talent but with all that they lack a commitment from the school and money from doners. If doners would prove they are in I think the school would come around. Right now, I'm not sure they can pay for a great coach. PJ Flect might go there for a down the road commitment of salary and facilities. Bubba the AD knows they have to dive in and talks like he wants to though the people he answers to maybe not.

One of the many reasons to not freak out at recruiting early on is this. His firing will have an effect. Who they hire to replace him will have another effect. But many others are going to be fired or quit. That will set off a hailstorm in recruiting and transfers.

One benefit PSU has had is stability. We need to capitalize on that. When you look at our rivals (Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, USC, Oregon) we have had far greater stability in the last ten years.
Bucknuts got their QB AND SEASON using the portal.

these greedy bastards never retire. He is on his 70s. No coach ever did less with more that this CLOWN.
That’s real Christian of you to yell that. He won a National Championship and is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Maybe he should be like you and spend his late years posting nonsense on a message board. Go back to the test board

I don’t know him personally but I never got a Barry Switzer vibe from Mack Brown. He’s a very successful coach and from my view which, admittedly is not up close and personal, he seems to have steered clear of controversy. And it’s not like he’s hung around until he died in the Senate or anything.

Reports are that BB just took the North Carolina job. he said on Pat McAfee's show that he'd create an NFL-level program for college kids. That means it is a prep course for kids who want to play in the NFL. Seems like what Prime is doing at Colorado.

If true he's about to recruit guys like Allar that are bona-fide stars elsewhere and put together an All Star team. Arch should go now. Ewers can return to Texas.
