As a casual observer, it seems that lonzo ball is overhyped and lavar is a pain in the ass. Am I wrong? Please help. I'm tired of these balls in my face.

Overhyped is right. I've seen him play he's good but not that good.
If i was a GM there is no way in hell I would draft him that high.

Thanks for the comments. For a guy who has never played in the nba, he's everywhere. lavar comes off as one of those marinovich dads. Yuck.

balls, balls, balls, balls, balls.

Ball is a good player, pass first PG with terrible shooting form but he makes shots. Crafty with teh ball and such but not an elite athlete like other PG in the draft. DeAaron Fox killed him in the NCAA game. That said he will be a high pick but I would take at least 3 other PG ahead of him (Fultz, Fox, Smith).

I hate to plug espn, but they had a good "sports science" video on their home page the other day analyzing ball's shot ( ). They showed the angle of his release (far from ideal) versus Steph Curry (ideal), ball's average release time versus what is typical, and ball's typical shot rpm versus what is typical. Very interesting. ball's specs. are off, but he gets the job done.

As I watched the video, I was reminded of Jamaal Wilke's outside shot and Bill Cartwright's free-throw shot. Sometimes unconventional works. Look at Rick Barry.

He can't go to his right, is the issue. For those of you who've seen him play, you'd know what I'm talking about. He's right-handed and starts his shot on the left side of his head. Push him to his right, he can't stop and shoot. I read an article on this somewhere; his shooting stats are much, much superior when he goes to his left than when he goes to his right.

As a spot shooter, he's pretty good from what I've seen. But this is a huge flaw that everyone is going to try to exploit.

Not being an ambi-turner didn't hurt this guy:

I know the father rubs alot of people the wrong way (and I certainly wouldn't want such a parent of a PSU kid roaming the sidelines), but I am hoping the kid gets paid. As stated above, he seems like a respectful kid and the father (albeit a loud mouth) seems devoted. Those kids have been put in a position to succeed in life and the father deserves alot of the credit. And if more men were like him, there'd be a lot less single-moms raising kids.

The really sad thing is, if you ever get a chance to hear Lonzo talk (which is rare because the father won't shut the EFF up), he's a very smart, respectful, reserved, polite kid. It's a shame his fathers persona is overshadowing him.

Whats sad is he said he actually likes how his dad has been handling everything and his talking. So, he is doing it to himself.
