Not technically a wrestling thread, but...

I've read and heard from a bunch of people with expertise far outweighing my common knowledge and the unifying fact is the uncertainty. Yes, there are similarities that compare Covid-19 to the flu, but we have extensive knowledge on the flu. The most accurate reaction should lie somewhere between hysteria and total disregard. Unfortunately for us, one of the precautionary measures is to avoid large gatherings, like, a 40,000+ indoor sporting event.

Philadelphia canceled the st patty's day parade. so i guess its not just indoor events.

Seattle hospitals are banning routine patient visits. Also banning any event of 250+ people. Not sure how far this is going to go but it's going to be an issue for everyone in some way or another.

there has been numerous arrests at the Dubois hospital due to people stealing the masks and antibacterial soaps from the restrooms. they have come to where they don't even put them out anymore.

We had to remove all masks and antibacterial Purell bottles because they were stealing them left and right. .I was seeing a patient and walked in on them pocketing masks.. kindly asked the person to return all but the 1 that they should have been wearing in the first place.. also the masks they are stealing don't actually protect from Covid as they are not N95 masks..

Starting Monday the health center will be going into essentially a MASH type set up where anyone with respiratory symptoms is seen in a designated area and tested for appropriate tests.. flu/strep/Covid.. then set up in isolation for 2 weeks or until testing returns with an answer..

You mean the dust masks that someone from Bucknell bought from my local hardware store don't help?

Which hardware store. Cole's?
Yep.

Was trying to play a little coronavirus joke on my parents, who were visiting us for the first time since returning from some international travel. Cole's told me that someone had been sent by one of the sororities to buy the masks.

So now do we have to deal with 70k students coming back during trials or are trials post ponned?

Three things, I assume these universities requiring the closing of dorms are still paying the workers at the dining halls, etc, or are they taking a hit? What about fast food workers in the area. This is going to hit many people economically I am sure.

Second, I just spent Monday and Tuesday in airports for business travel, I passed more than a handful of passengers with dust masks on, some even wearing surgical gloves. I just wanted to shake my head...

Third, I just heard that the South by Southwest Conference/Festival was canceled by the Austin government, yet then the Mayor published a video telling people to go out and party to make up for the restaurants and bars that would be taking a hit. So, stay out of crowds unless you are someone from Austin, then go out and party like it is 1999! Makes no sense to me.

I mean, I kinda get it. If they hold a large event that fosters the pandemic, then it's on him. But if people just *happen* to congregate, then he's off the hook and they can weather some of the economic hit.

But is it just "happening to happen" if he tweets out a video telling people to do it to help the businesses affected?

Scranton just postponed their St Patty's day parade too. Supposedly it is one of the largest in the nation.

Pittsburgh has as well but the youth tournament and the classic are still on tho

JMU sent a message stating to not come back to school until April 5 and classes are being configured online and they would be contacted. Events are cancelled yet sporting event schedule is not(?). Faculty is expected back and food services are open.... etc., etc., More than merely interesting

How can sports teams afford to have empty stands?
Ncaa had to go and rent a professional football stadium for Nationals, who’s gonna pay for THAT?
Well this did not age too well for you...how could is the NCAA going to pay for the rented football stadium ;)

We just had a staff meeting this AM about supplies being stolen from supply closets. There are 6 people with badge access to these closets. I had them pull up security footage. Phreaking security popped open the doors from a control area and security personnel were in and out stealing rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, disinfectant and anything else they thought might kill a germ.
