Oak Island Season 9 begins Nov 2.

The Lagina boys are laughing all the way to the bank. Public estimates have Marty doubling his net worth to $100 million since the show's been on. He's certainly found treasure, if not technically on Oak Island.

Boom!! Yes indeedy!

Have you been watching the warm up marathons on Tuesdays?

I love the show for the entertainment value you note, but sometimes I have to wonder if these guys really know what they are doing.

Candidly, I am more interested in the history. Who was there first? Should probably read up on it.

The history is the most intriguing aspect for sure. If there was treasure, it’s long gone.

I don't understand why they get excited when they find an artifact from the 1700s when they already knew people were living on the island in the 1700s. All it tells me is that people were slobs back then too.

To that point, they keep claiming the guy who sided with the British, Ball is his last name, may have found something. Have they followed the money? I don't think so.

99% of it is hype and drama, though entertaining at times. Some parts are intriguing.... like human bone fragments from 16th century found like 100 feet deep. I would think faking anything regarding human remains would be a criminal act.

Who was there first? I would bet on the Pheonecians, with the Carthagenians to place.

History has it that they were indeed great sailors. Truth might be whoever was first pegged the place for years. It may have become the destination of ancient sailors.

I agree. It has been vastly underappreciated how many of the ancient civilizations were great seafarers. Many have been crisscrossing the Atlantic and also to a lesser degree the Pacific for thousands of years. Recent archeologic finds have demonstrated the presence of civilizations already in the Americas 27,000-33,000 years ago, over 10,000 years before Clovis (Asians ariving in the Americas across the Alaskan ice bridge).
