What is gonna happen when we start (and we are heading this direction) dominating up front???? We have the best offense and passing game in the B1G, a running back who was B1G offensive player of the year and we are doing it with a beat up offensive line that has no tackles and a lot of moving pieces. We put the most points on a great defense that is really tough to score on, they hadn't given up more then 27 points in any game this season thru 4 quarters and that was Ohio State which was the only team to score more then 20. We are heading toward a very dominating offense, I don't want to compare but it could be one of the best in Penn State history when all said and done.

This has the making of a very talented line next season with a lot of guys getting their feet wet in crunch time because of injury. We saw 3 freshman, 1 sophomore beside senior Brian Gaia. Think about that.

+100.
First thing I think happens is that Barkley goes for 2,000 next year and a Heisman.
Yea I think the OL is going to be that good.

This wasn't even in a realm of possibility before all of the OT injuries this year.. but is it possible that this is our ol next year:
LT: Bates
LG: Gonzalez
C: Menet
RT McGovern
RT: Mahon

Will certainly be one of the most intriguing battles this spring

Center is the only position I have some concerns with. I know Brian G. had some "issues" with snaps and he was sometimes over powered but he was excellent at getting the line calls in.
Wasn't or isn't there a "walk on" Center that was doing really well and getting some nice reviews?

McGovern will be at center. I don't know if Menet starts right away but will play a lot. You have to think Wright will start at RG with the valuable PT he has received this year. Wonder if Nelson is able to come back as well. If Nelson doesnt the. Bates makes sense to stay, has done a great job at LT. Gonzo will be in the mix, Menet. Fries coming off redshirt as well as some talented informers like Thorpe.

I'm fine with that lineup.

We are going for it all next year, and Bates has shown he can play LT at a high level. Good LTs don't grow on trees.

Plus, Gonzo really started to play well after the Indiana game. He's a rock in pass protection and Franklin noted on his radio show that he has really long arms which probably gives him an advantage there.

Mahon's long term status will be the biggest question mark.

I believe you are all correct. I was waving and thumbs upping people people for the entire ride home to State College. I am happy, for now; I am absorbing the bliss that the rebirth of the program. I am hoping beyond hope that this "Success with honor" lives and flourishes.

(The renovations must move upward and onward, and I demand that the culture problem of the football program spread through the administration, (Barber, Barren, and the whole box system of the east stands. It should be a virus that cleanses the entire hypocrisy of the NCAA, BiG, and BOT, and Alumni. Some day they should leave their officialdom, and sit amongst us and learn what privileged is; listen to Teddy, be in the arena. And enjoy. )

It's a great dilemma for Limegrover and JoeMo.... They will have many experienced Olinemen for next year. Been a LONG time since we could say that. Will be lots of discussion whether to slide Bates back inside or keep him outside. Will depend on the development of the young OT's and who returns healthy. Between Fries/Mahon/Nelson/Jenkins/Chaz plus with the possibility of keeping Bates out there, the choices are fantastic. Plus we now have depth if any injury occurs. Plus we are building up depth at guard now as well. It feels great to finally have experience and depth with strong competition all along the offensive line. Been a VERY LONG time since PSU could say that. Also nice to have a coaching staff who really seems to be developing players. JF, Limegrover and JoeMo have taken a weakness and through recruiting good players and developing them, made it into a strength. Our QB's and RB's will be smiling playing behind this Oline for years to come.

If Andrew Nelson's knee is healthy enough and he comes back for his 5th year, he'll start at RT.

My concern is how we could possibly top this year. We caught everyone, including ourselves, completely off guard in terms of firepower and playcalling. Our defense managed through injuries and created depth which most teams had no answer for in second half. I don't know what next year holds but guarantee that PSU will be dissected by virtualluly every coaching staff in country over spring and summer. We will need health and consistency on OL to win 11+ next year. Element of surprise is gone.
