Official Cotton Bowl Game Thread: clemson vs. notre dame

I thought the roughing the passer play was a blatant cheap shot. Announcers acted like it was your average run of the mill RTP.
My wife asked me why the ND wasn’t ejected. I couldn’t give her an answer - shouldn’t a late helmet to helmet hit to a defenseless player be an ejection? I have seen players ejected for less this season.

Wow. Coming into tonight's game, notre dame had yielded just one touchdown of over 20 yards. clemson scored three such touchdowns in the second quarter.

Cool, Kelly is starting to produce a red hue below his eyes. May have some Christmas colors by the end of the fourth.

Ross from Clemson was #15 overall on Rivals. Shorter was #18. Exciting to think of what we look like as more talent gets on the field

Its been beat to death, but this game reinforces the point: you gotta play these highly rated FR. Ross just set some kind of record. His QB is a FR.

That was probably notre dame's last chance. Down 23-3, moving the ball, book throws a pick.

The Irish

How many here get fed up with the special treatment certain teams get. The Irish has been one of these teams. They lay another egg. Something needs to be done. They need to join a conference and play big boy football every week.

Get out of here ND...You're a farce and everyone outside of South Bend knew it.

Don't get me wrong, nothing pleases me more than seeing the Irish get blown out on the National stage... but given the special treatment the Irish get in this new system... watching them get embarrassed VS Clemson just pisses me off.

If Notre Dame wants to be taken seriously they should be required to be in a conference. Historically one would say the B1G, but in recent years it appears The Irish have chosen to go the ACC route. If that's the case, ND should have faced Clemson in the ACC Title Game instead of wasting one of the 4 spots in the playoff.

Anyone who has payed any attention to college football in the past 20 years, knows that Notre Dame's record made them highly suspect heading into this matchup. History further proves the case against the Irish getting in over a conference champion, even if they were undefeated.

Had the Irish topped Clemson in the ACC title game, then sure, by all means, the Fighting Irish deserved a shot. But given the fact that they stumbled through what turned out to be a mediocre schedule, only solidifies the point that if you're to be considered with the four best teams in the nation, that should also include a win in a conference championship.

Just needed to vent here... ND is a farce, and even them embarrassing themselves on national TV doesn't make up for them driving a pitch fork in the college football world for yet another season.

Hell I'd have taken UCF over the less than Fighting Irish.. At least they won their conference.
