The corner table at the Skellar
Didn't see one for actual play, so I will start

1. Duval's day was brutal - I think he finished +19. He hit the wrong ball on a whole - I mean....that's stuff that I would do. He should do better.
2. Tiger tees off at 3 10 PM EST. For those interested.
3. Weather started out well, but it appears that it's starting to get nasty in North Ireland (imagine that).
4. I downloaded The Open app to my phone and am live streaming it.
5. Shane Lowry (Ireland) the very early clubhouse leader.
6. Sergio had a great first round - one shot back.

They were showing a "drop zone" on the golf channel. Apparently, they were concerned that players would use the stands' wall to bounce a ball and keep it close to the green. But if the ball ended up too close to the wall and got a drop, they made a drop zone that was (basically) unplayable. It was a bunch of weeds with some bushes. An announcer dropped a ball in there and I have no idea how you'd even hit it out. you'd need a drop from the drop.

years ago, I saw a pro skim a ball over a pond at firestone and hit a spectator. The ball wasn't going fast so little risk for the spectator, but the ball ended up a yard from the green. The player did it on purpose.

In 2005, I saw Tiger play at the PGA at Baltursrol, and he did the "hit it off the grandstand" trick on 18. Got it close to the pin, but couldn't sink the putt. He only lost by a couple of strokes, but I wonder if he had made that putt, what would have been the affect on the other players. Phil won that one I believe.

Jason Day had it to 4 under and went +6 over his last 6 and will miss the cut by one. So much for getting Stevie Williams on his bag.

The last time the four Majors were all won by Americans was 1982. Don't like the odds, but I'll even root for JB, although I never really liked the guy. He's too slow and deliberate.

I really like McIllroy to win it all wire to wire.

Gotta give McIlroy credit for putting on a charge in the 2nd round but he is still just fighting to make the cut and seems to need to play the final two holes one under par to make the cut.

......which it appears he failed to do.

They're playing the 4th round of the British Open in a pouring rain. Check it out.

It slowed down now. For awhile there it was a downpour and they didn't stop playing.

I admit I don’t watch or follow golf much. Like to play, but I’m a hack.
Watching the Irishman walk up the 18th fairway to the local Irish crowd getting really loud was pretty cool.

Seems like a great guy. I couldn't be happier for him. With him blowing a four stroke lead years ago, he won going away today under a lot of pressure

Props to Koepka for calling out Holmes. He is so painful to watch. No sympathy for the guy blowing up with an 87.

Actually Koepka was much kinder to Holmes than I thought he could/should be.....per USA TODAY article I just read on their website.

The only way to get these habitually slow players to play faster is to get serious and start leveling stroke penalties = money out of their pocket.

Warn them ONCE and immediately put them on the clock, then BAM.

Holmes doesn't normally get a lot of air time so I had no idea he was a slow player until I heard the commentators discussing him today. There are quite a few players that drive me crazy with their slow play. The rules officials need to do their damn job, but from reading some articles that isn't going to happen.
