I posted the following on the McAndrew's board as I thought just maybe everyone is so worried about climate change that they would appreciate some good news. But the mods deleted it...not just moved it to the test board but outright deleted it! Had nothing political, just the facts....well, the comment about surviving more than 12 tears may have upset someone!
It was titled "OT: Great news on the global front warming!"
The EPA just issued its annual report on greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs...a combination of CO2, sulfurs, nitrates, flourocarbons and more). Its very long at 675 pages, just the executive summary is 55 pages. But the good news is that we have reduced GHG emissions by 800 million tons on the last ten years.
When Obama signed the Paris Agreement to reduce GHGs one of the goals was to reduce such emissions to the levels that exited in 1990. The new report says that last year the GHSs were the same as those in 1992. That means we have already attained the goals set for 2025 and are just a couple years away from achieving the goal for 2030. And we did it while also reducing the cost of electricity, nat gas, gasoline, and other energy sources.
The main reason, according to the EPA, was the widespread adaption from coal to nat gas. Other contributors were better fuel mileage vehicles, renewable energy sources, and milder weather. Go to ES.4 pages 49-52 for some good charts that show the results.
Pretty amazing. Perhaps we won't all die in 12 years after all.
