I'm quoting Bob Menendez' response to the ruling of the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, dismissing the National Rifle Association's bankruptcy petition, and effectively forcing the NRA to defend on the merits New York AG Letitia James' lawsuit seeking involuntary dissolution of the NRA. Menendez is himself corrupt, IMHO, but his mockery of Wayne LaPierre was right on the money.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Harlin Hale ruled that the NRA's bankruptcy petition was filed to gain an "unfair litigation advantage," in a lawsuit brought by the New York AG: ""The question the Court is faced with is whether the existential threat facing the NRA is the type of threat that the Bankruptcy Code is meant to protect against. The Court believes it is not," Judge Hale wrote in a 38-page decision.

Hale went on to note: "What concerns the Court most, though, is the surreptitious manner in which Mr. LaPierre obtained and exercised authority to file bankruptcy for the NRA. Excluding so many people from the process of deciding to file for bankruptcy, including the vast majority of the board of directors, the chief financial officer, and the general counsel, is nothing less than shocking," wrote Hale.

In his ruling, Hale noted that "there was a general consensus among the witnesses that, as the NRA has consistently represented to the Court and to its members, the NRA is in its strongest financial condition in years and intends to pay creditors all allowed claims in full." The solid financial outlook didn't help the NRA's case. "The NRA is a solvent and growing organization using this bankruptcy as a tool to win its dissolution lawsuit, and that is not an appropriate use of bankruptcy," the judge wrote.

Wayne LaPierre. What a frickin' TOOL. The NRA has a legitimate political purpose: to advocate for its members' Second Amendment rights. LaPierre, his luxury junkets, his fights with Oliver North and other gun rights advocates, and his lamebrained bankruptcy petition, do the NRA a ginormous disservice. They should show him the door, pronto. Here is the article:
