A few comments. I hope you liberals don’t mind my exercising my First Amendment rights (you seem to wig out anytime someone does)…

  1. Excuse you, but crossing a border illegally should be a traumatic experience. You want to avoid the trauma? Then don’t cross the border illegally. IMO 34 days of separation is a small price to pay for our largess.
  2. You bet it’s a policy of deterrence. And the message is clear. You want to keep your family together? Then don’t cross the border illegally.
  3. It isn’t so much that HHS “lost” 1,475 kids. These kids escaped sponsor custody. Now they’re successful ‘living on the shadows’. That was the intent of the parents/guardians before crossing. That’s what our ineffectual immigration laws allow! The operative words from the article are as follows: “And some have pointed out that adult sponsors are sometimes relatives who already were living in the United States and who intentionally may not be responding to contact attempts by HHS.” Case closed.
  4. Immigration activists bemoan HHS “losing” 1,475 ‘toddlers wrapped in blankets’. We should be looking at the inverse. HHS has only batting .878. No wonder Trump is reportedly angry at Kirstjen Nielsen.
  5. And for Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) 8 out of 7,635 is a pretty good percentage considering human trafficking and smuggling is routine business along the southern border. Chalk it up to poor planning by the parents and/or relatives. Look at it this way. For these kids it’s either MS13 or an egg farm in Ohio.

I thank you and please pay your respects to veterans today. And remember, fly the flag at half mast until noon.
