We all know the story, JoePa had a 5-5 season his first year as HC. Then, after the Navy loss to open the 1967 campaign, he made changes. He then beat Miami - at Miami - that Saturday, September 29th, 1967, 17-8. And, as they say....the rest is history!

This win may be of the same magnitude and importance to Coach Franklin. He, like JoePa, had no signature wins and people had doubts - serious doubts. I'm sure few have doubts, now, after last night.

Sure, I wanted Mike Munchak. Not entirely sure why others didn't, though. Nonetheless, if this 2016 Penn State version comes out to play the remainder of the season, they will finish 10-2 and play a News Years Day Bowl game. Now, really, who here imagined that? I didn't.

Yesterdays win, at a minimum, secured a moment in Penn State folklore for Coach Franklin. He now has some significant "mojo" to recruit some quality talent. I expect a TOP 10 class after yesterday. I believe when he makes a few phone calls to potential recruits in the coming weeks, Phil Grosz is gonna have a woodie writing about the kids Franklin just landed.

To me, this win is right up there with JoePa's win over Miami (Fla) in 1967.

Sensei ... I was thinking along the line of similar to the win over N. C. State later that season.

The Wolfpack was unbeaten, highly ranked and a decided favorite over the Nits who had lost 2 games already and were not on most folks' radar.

PSU made plays early and had a furious goal line stand late in the game to upset what had been the #3 team in the country.
