Watching this one live and in person Saturday Night was the toughest emotional low in 15 years of
being a Season Ticket Holder. It was euphoria time at 8:00 of the 4th Quarter with TM leading us
into the End Zone for the second time in less than seven minutes. Given the way our D had played
since the opening drive of the second half, the lead looked solid. Credit to UM and Staff for figuring
out what would turn our defense into The Keystone Cops. Less than seven minutes of game time later
the realization of what had happened was a mind-numbing low. You could see our players were shocked in the after-game hand shakes with OSU. It was tough to endure the OSU love fest with their fans as they looked to the upper deck from the field. A few OSU players gave us the finger to the mouth Shhhh sign as they exited toward the locker room.... classless, but I guess they were sending
a message about White Out noise not preventing their victory. Walking out under the stands and into
the moonlit night among thousands of PSU fans, the murmur of noise was that of stunned disappointment. The smattering of OSU fans among the departing Penn Staters had the good sense to keep their glee to themselves while surrounded by unhappy rivals. Not an ordinary loss, given what was at stake and the opportunity lost.
Comment on the game: as many others have said key play of the game was the gift fumble as the first half wound down.. After working so hard on defense and outplaying OSU by a significant margin overall, the mistake positioned them to take the lead, which they did, a few minutes into the second half....a huge psychological turnaround.
