Heretofore no Starbucks executive has had the courage to tell us the company policy. Are their restrooms reserved for paying customers or are they public? Make a decision, stand by it and problem solved! Instead, they demur to an arcane societal issue such as “unconscious bias,” which perhaps can be proved by a mind reader but certainly not in a court of law.
True to form, a company official who declined to be named says “the company leaves safety and customer service protocol decisions up to store managers” and yet when a store manager does exercise said authority Starbucks doesn’t have her back. Some kind of leadership. If I was a Starbucks employee I would drop it like it’s hot and find employment elsewhere. This is a classic example of the $hit rolling downhill.
Let’s keep this civil. Due to an ambiguous corporate policy on restroom usage the two gentlemen were asked to leave. They refused. So the store manager called the cops. The cops asked the two gentleman to leave. Again they refused. Hence the arrest. Seems like an open and shut case so long as Lady Justice keeps her blinders on. Yes?
Funny thing about these cell phone video dustups. They only run once the $hit has started. They never capture the event(s) leading up to the dustup and yet society is all too willing to serve and judge, jury and executioner. If you think that’s okay then you ate too many lead paint chips as a kid.
Lastly, why pray tell is it so hard for some people to deal with authority figures?? That’s the million dollar question. Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson vows to “fix this.” I bet dollars to donuts he only exacerbates the situation. In the meantime enjoy your Starbucks experience.

I thank you and have a blessed day!
