Only 76,000 at the Shoe yesterday...

Is that b/c of Covid restrictions?
The article states: "Most of the empty seats during Saturday’s game were in the upper deck of the stadium and in the corners of the south-end zone stands."

"A host of factors likely contributed to declining attendance on Saturday, ranging from the prevalence of coronavirus cases in central Ohio to high ticket prices and muggy temperatures that reached 88 degrees at kickoff."

I don't believe there were any official restrictions.

They jacked up ticket prices and the current product isn't comparable to what they were putting out.

They are so distraught over the defense, they have done changed the play caller and basically tried to become a rushing team in a 6 day span. Stroud was mediocre (15/25 185 yards, threw a TD late I believe to improve the stat line). Olave didn't have a catch.

They have a stud in Henderson though. Sadly, he isn't a LB or DE. Because the defense is rough.

the Meyer influence is now erased. Is Day the right coach for OSU?

After the debacle they had last week with problems caused by mobile tickets and getting fans into the stadium it is easy to understand why so few showed up.

Other than Meyer, OSU has not gone for homerun coaching hires. Replacing Cooper with Tressel was a major "who?" moment at the time. Day may or may not be any good, honestly. He could be Tressel or he could be Solich/Coker. Nobody has a clue. I think they were dumb to pull the plug on Fickell and he will probably end up as the coach at USC.

There’s a shortage of face paint in Ohio, so people stayed home since they couldn’t fully support their Bucks in style

They had 100,000 for Oregon last week (less than capacity of around 103,000). The 76,000 yesterday was lowest since 1971. Granted it was Tulsa as an opponent but I still would expect around 20,000 more.

What’s going on in Columbus?

Their fans are spoiled frontrunners. This is the reason. Hopefully we can give them another reason to not show up later this year. Until then, they're the champs and they have plenty of time to figure out their issues.

Day is an excellent coach…don’t sleep on O$U…they are uber-talented, well coached, and they will get every benefit from the Big10 and Big10 refs. Still the overwhelming favorite to win the conference..
Disagree on them now being the OVERWHELMING favorite. They are not well coached on defense and that's their issue right now. Offense, yes, that's a different story as they're going through growing pains with their new, inexperienced QB right now when they do have offensive problems. But it's still high octane especially with that FR RB - Henderson - exploding yesterday. Defense - not so much.

Now, are they still the favorite ? Maybe but I think PSU is right there with them. I don't think anyone is sleeping on OSU or at least I hope not for other B1G schools.

This is 100% based on ticket prices. Priced out the paying fans. they already announced a significant increase for next year. I hope they think this is a COVID issue, because it is not.

Agree all the way. Day is a really good offensive play caller, but he not a culture/process/detail maniac in the vein of Urban and Saban. The guys that played under Urban are mostly cycled through and this OSU team does not have the detail/discipline of Meyer coached teams.

Thank you for the sandbagging Bucknut1972.

O$U is loaded with high priced NFL talent. They have PSU at home with the Big10 refs completely in their pocket.

Defensive coaching issues? Maybe a little complacency. Do they not have Larry Johnson Sr. Still on the staff? They will be fine. They will be favored by 2 scores against P$U. That is overwhelming to me.

They have lost exactly 1 regular season game under Day. They will be more than fine with their dominating talent gap.

What will we have for a noon game against Villanova? It’ll be called 95,000 but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if there are more than 85k in the house.
