Open season on Caitlin Clark

The good news was without the internet we likely didn’t know the score before we watched it.
Just having the opportunity to watch the event was a treat in and of itself!

Ali - Frazier / Championship Fights were often held on Friday nights and televised 'closed circuit' Friday nights.

Those who did not have the ability or resources to watch the event live were thrilled to watch it tape delayed on programs such as ABC's Wide World of Sports.

If you were a baseball fan, you followed your team every evening listening to a transistor radio and perusing an actual print newspaper for details of your team and the rest of the league.

The appetite and void of sports programming during that time period has led us to the oversaturation of sports programming that we have available today.

One of the plusses to that thirst for TV sports programming is that we all actually played sports. Particularly the boys....

When they selected the team she had no games under her belt

On June 7th when she played against Washington it was her 12th WNBA game.

Caitlin Clark snubbed from Olympics: Why is Team USA making this mistake?

..................
The timing could not be more clumsy. The Athletic reported Clark is expected to be left off the team hours after she scored 30 points with seven 3-pointers in Indiana's 85-83 victory against Washington. Then again, that is after a week full of nauseating discourse after Chennedy Carter knocked Clark to the floor during a game against the Chicago Sky on June 1.

She had the most points in the history of college basketball and led the nation in assists. Far less numbers were good enough to get Taurasi and Stewart on the Olympic team when they were rookies.

Yet, 18% of all the flagrant fouls called in the entire league have been with Clark the victim.
Calling a flagrant foul is a joke. Todd the player from the game. Then the commissioner should add additional suspensions. Only way to make it stop.

And it is crazy they don’t stop it. How much money will the league lose if she gets a major injury? What about a career ending injury or one that leaves her ineffective?

Revenues are way up. Viewership even more. She gird foen….thry go down.

And if her career ends on a flagrant foul the league itself may collapse as the anger could be fatal,

Weird how in the NBA you couldn’t even breathe on M Jordan but in the WNBA you can truck the biggest superstar 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is a different angle showing how intentional it was.
I don't know if it was intentional. In the video you linked the defender was looking up at the ball and not at CC's face. If it was intentional, I would think she'd be looking for Clark's eyes. But in this one from whitlock it sure looks intentional.

That’s the one. Should be suspended for the rest of the season. Or a team mate should break her leg.

Isn’t it funny that many of these “accidents” happen when someone who openly hates Clark is involved….weird how that works.

It is beyond me that the WNBA will not realize that Caitlin Clark has energized the league and she is the sole reason that the league has shown phenomenal growth this year. She's a unicorn among a bunch of plodding wannabees. I have never watched an WNBA game til this year and I have watched as many CC games as I could and not one second of any other game. If the Fever get beat tomorrow, viewership and interest in the league will plummet and I wouild like to see how the league explains that CC isn't the only reason for this year's growth and interest.
The jealousy and hate toward CC is making the WNBA a laughing stock this year and leaves them with little credibility. They should haved taken a lesson from the NBA and how the re-energized the league by promoting Magic, Bird, MJ, etc.

I really think the rest of the players in the league are just plain jealous of her. She did something that none of them could do which was make people legitimately interested in the WNBA and she did it before she even played a game in the WNBA. I really think it's that simple.

They’ve never had to make money so they’ve never hired people that know how to make money. They are stuck in the past and don’t want to move into the future. The WNBA would be a good case study on how not to run a business and how to do everything wrong when given an opportunity. From scheduling, to coaching, to officiating, it is the worst run sports league I’ve ever seen and that includes high school, middle school, and men’s recreational softball leagues.
