Oregon was seemingly rolling against Stanford

Thought it was clear to overturn, though ball should have been at more like the half yard-line.

I changed the channel at 30-7 and thought it was over....

Too much time left to totally end it. But it was a spot where a RB can’t fight for yards!

Second down...1 minute left and Stanford only had one TO left...I’m no math major but if you kneel it twice the game is over. A 4th down punt would take the game down to about 4 seconds with the ball on Stanford’s 5

Whereas running it up the middle a few times can kill off those extra 5-10 seconds and avoid the possibility of a punt block or return.

But, your RB needs to be smart enough to not fight for extra yards and secure the ball.

Yeah, you gotta put 2 hands on the ball.

Or....a RB fumble and now your in OT...I would take my chances with a team going 95 yards in 5 seconds any day rather than a possible fumble and game tieing FG as we just had.

Sure, if you can guarantee me no chance of a punt block or return (ie, two things you really want to avoid).

Your absolutely right...I would go for it as well, as long as you can guarantee me a RB won’t fumble fighting for yards. Which is what happened.

I’m not saying your wrong. My thing is, what’s more likely...a blocked punt or a fumble when 11 grown ass men are ripping at a ball when they know they have to have it to win a game?

This is what makes college football great.

Side note...Wisconsin-Iowa is a great game right now

Awful coaching. Stanford isn't a top 10 team. What a joke!!

1st and goal from the 1, bad snap turns into a Stanford TD. A fumble when milking away the clock. That's not coaching. Oregon just choked.

Can't believe pass interference was not called on at least one of those end zone passes in OT.

Choking is a by product of coaching. Choking is not having the sack to just perform one punt and ice the game, and putting the game in the hands of a kid other than the quarterback who is your best player.

The coach choked.

The non-call on the 3rd down play was ridiculous.

What about the TD not allowed because of hitting the pylon? I thought that was ‘in bounds’ so to speak and once touched it’s like crossing the goal line.

Me too. Someone (perhaps Bushwood in his most recent incarnation) will have to explain that one to me.

Or you have your qb shuffle backwards and not kneel until the last possible second to kill some extra time.

The pylon is out of bounds. Once you hit it, the play is dead. Ball clearly hadn’t crossed the plane when his foot made contact with it, so replay got it right.

No part of his body ever touched the endzone. The ball would have to be inside or hit the pylon in that situation.

The bottom line is Cristobal lost the game. With a minute to go they had a first down and Stanford had only one TO left. Three kneels win the game. There was no reason to run the ball and risk a fumble but that is what he did.
