I wonder if it has anything to do with Ohio State being way over the 85 limit including their verbals?

They know what they are getting into when they deal with certain teams, and choose to look the other way. Buyer beware.

The Ohio State staff was reportedly caught off guard by the decommitment. But believe what you want.

No one knows why he opened his recruiting- especially so close to signing day when he was tweeting pro OSU stuff just a day or so ago. High school kids sometimes make rash decisions that come out of nowhere. Best of luck to the kid wherever he goes.

What I find more disturbing are the supposed adults who follow recruits twitter feeds trying to influence their decisions. Michigan and Ohio State fans are having 1 of their usual childish fights on the kids twitter feed over who has the best record with receivers. Just leave the kid alone.

Wow, there are people on this board who follow OSU recruiting more intensely than I do!!

I have no clue or inside knowledge, but maybe somebody has been in Lindsey's ear and raising doubts about the lack of a passing game at OSU this year?!? That seems a more likely scenario to me than that the staff is trying to dump a player who is the #6 receiver in this recruiting class and had a minor surgery (although not sure any knee surgery for a receiver is ever really minor), but has been working out and is expected to be ready to go for next season. And oh by the way, OSU only has 1 other WR recruit in its class right now (who also had season-ending knee surgery).

And I agree that it is beyond the pale for "fans" to insert themselves into a player's life, whether through social media that the player has chosen to make public or otherwise, and try to encourage him one way or another or act like he has personally hurt them because of his decision. Infantile behavior, which is witnessed on internet message boards every day, but still doesn't make it acceptable.

Went from tweeting pro OSU tweets to decommitting literally the next day. Slightly unusual. You normally see some smoke before the fire. And the motive still remains OSU has to get down to 85.
Indeed. However every insider and their sources all point to this being Lindsey's decision. I am not under any illusion that, say Evan Lisle and Kyle Trout saw the writing on the wall and made the decision on their own to transfer. And we'll probably see a few more of those along with a 5th year or two that are not asked back. Evidence points to this not being a situation like that though.
Whew, I'm glad I got this guy's permission to think what I want.
Feel free to continue your day without worrying about what I think.

Couldn't agree more, with all of it. Adults following high schoolers and trying to influence them are creepy and need to get a life.
I would, yes. And I don't even know who he is.
Sure, the anonymous message board posters with no connection to the university are usually better sources of info than guys who report on Ohio State recruiting for a living and have sources inside the program.
Lattimore declared for NFL. Six left early. Doubt if over 85 now.
I think that puts Ohio State at 88, if I'm not mistaken. Expect a few more transfers from guys who are buried and/or have been recruited over.

Complicates this tweet from a few days back.
Yes, that tweet was apparently a bit "Dewey Defeats Truman"!!

Huge loss to say the least. OSU picked up a commit yesterday from the top JC CB, so hopefully that will give them someone with some college experience to step in at one of the CB positions, but they are going to be extremely young and inexperienced overall in the defensive backfield.

There you go. Now you're getting with the program.

I don't follow recruiting closely at all- much less Ohio St recruiting. I saw a link on the Nebraska board (kid is from a Nebraska high school ) that led to Omaha news about it. ;)

You all have this wrong. Urban is only preemptively protecting this young man from his new offensive coordinator, who had just been fired for abusing injured players at another BIG institution.

Sorry, didn't mean to call you out. Actually was intending to respond to your point about fans trolling players on twitter, but ended up commenting on the obsession of some folks on this thread over OSU recruiting.

Interesting. Wonder if it's just throwing your hat in the ring for a talented player, whether Godwin's declaration wasn't that expected, or whether Hippenhammer is more interested in Minnesota than it seems publicly. Didn't think we had the space for a fourth WR.
