I have an update:
I didn't close on the loan, it was for consolidation. You guys have given so many good opinions, i just couldn't pull trigger today. I am torn about losing the tax deferred money and being "disciplined enough" to put all the extra money towards the loan but i hate having the debt that i was stupid enough to get myself into. So here's my situation, as I said I have $20,000 in debt. $8,200 IS in a fixed personal loan at 6.8% ($216 monthly payment). I have good credit (maybe not after this- but right now it's over 750) but I put the remaining $12,000 on a CC with no annual fee for 1 year. I did get hit with a 3% balance transfer fee so that added $360. Maybe that was am mistake, I guess i wanted to buy a little more time to figure this out. but maybe i can drop my deductions to my 401k to 10% instead of 5% or is there some i can get the whole $20,000 consolidated at 6 or 7%, almost 10% seemed way too high. Should i have just taken the 9.8% fixed and bit the bullet? I do have $2000 in an emergency fund. As always guys thanks
