OT: Any suggestions for khakis or business casual work pants?

Thanks for the opinion, but I was soliciting input for specific brands that you might recommend. Care to nominate any?

I would go to any nice men's store and try some on. Talk with the salesperson. Find the brand / style that fits you best and you find comfortable and is at the desired price point. It is all about fit.

LL Bean is what I've been wearing. Wrinkle free if you take them out of the dryer right away. Good quality, excellent return policy (or at least it used to be-- I think many customers abused it so now it's not as easy).

I’ve never returned anything but they’re one of the few jeans that fit me correctly.

Dockers are still available and still comfy. The Gap makes nice khakis (same company as Banana Republic at slightly less cost).

LL Bean cost more but last forever. The best pair of wrinkle-free/non-iron pants I ever had were Haggers (but when I went back to them for a 2nd pair, not as good).

For those of you who suggested the ABC pants, are you all under 25 years old? I checked them out and they looked like skinny jeans! Not a good look at work, and not something this 50 year old dude could pull off in any setting.

I’m confident that you can “make them work”. What could possibly go wrong?

46 years old. there are a couple different styles of the ABC pant. Regular or classic I think they call it is what I prefer. The slim version is more like skinny jeans.

Everything on their website looked skinny jean to me. I’m a pretty big guy and prefer a more relaxed fit. I’ll look again for the classic, but it just might be my style is not a fit.

Another pant like the ABC is the Rhone commuter pant @ Rhone.com

Banana has an awesome casual pant for summer also. but they are $98.00

Just fortunate that I can wear jeans every single day. Work for a small (approx 20 FTE) company. As long as we make money for our Private Equity overlords, they don’t give a crap.

Hell, I only shave 2-3 times a week. It’s heaven

I've found that you can get some good deals at outlets--if you look carefully. VF has some good stuff as does Van Heusen. For under $20, if you catch a sale.

I think what you are asking for is cotton. that's great but cotton looses its integrity and ends up being very casual after a few wearings and a wash or two.

The old line "don't dress for your position, but the position you want" come to mind. From my standpoint, get a nice set of wool blend pants and take them to the cleaners after a few wearings.

LL Bean is fantastic if you're willing to spend for them. They last forever and are among the most comfortable khakis I've ever worn. Just pay attention to the fit on all of their pants. The "natural" fit is quite unnatural.

Bean sales are pretty frequent and they usually do a big summer sale where you're able to get things pretty cheap. Always keep an eye on their website's clearance section. Last summer during said sale I was able to buy 2 button-up short sleeve shirts and a long sleeve button-up for under $50.

For cheap pants, Savane is pretty solid. I find them often at the local Sam's Club but also see them elsewhere.

I've also been out around and bought $11 khakis from WalMart when I unexpectedly needed a pair. They're not the best by any means but get the job done.

Wut? There’s a pant called Banana???

Unless Banana pants are what the athlete guy in the first picture on the wall of the Adams Apple is wearing. Now I get it.

I was on the LL Bean site last night looking. From what I read, the natural fit sounded more to my liking (relaxed). Are you saying that it's too relaxed, too tight, or something else?

A bit too nut hugging for me. Everyone likes their pants different though; I just hated them.

EDIT: It wasn't the nuts as much as inner thigh down towards the knee. Just not my idea of nice pants.

Ranger, are you in Eastern, PA? There's an LL Bean Store off Route 309 between Allentown and Quakertown.

I remember wearing Dockers brand when they were popular back in the 90’s, then an assortment of various mid level or department store brands for a while. Recently I’ve been wearing Jos A Bank Traveler Twill pants. They are fine pants, but I only buy them when on sale as they are quite expensive. What do you guys wear? Are there any other brands that you would recommend? I’d also consider some form of semi dress slacks. They must be wrinkle free, as I’m philosophically opposed to ironing clothes for routine work days.
Barena pants with an elastic waist and fine wool fabric, they aren't sweatpants, but they aren't not sweatpants. They are the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn.

My favorite khakis are by Ralph Lauren...so comfy...but they are expensive...$80 to $90 a pair. I also like Jos A Bank traveler pants.

Big fan of Nautica. Agree on Banana Republic for newer style ( plain front/no creases). Nautica are close to old Bill’s. I have 2 pairs that have to be 8-10 yrs old so can’t vouch for today’s Nautica’s but these wore really well.

Go to Kohl’s - they have a great selection of business casual pants. I prefer Izod, but a lot is about the fit. Take several styles into the dressing room and find what looks best. They have good prices also.

Somehow I managed to totally forget about Nautica. That, and LLB, are my two favorite brands for quality and style.

I just read that Nautica is for sale and things aren’t looking good for the brand.

If you live near Nordstrom's Rack, go there and check. Sometimes you can find some really nice ones cheap. Other times you will just find a collection of weirdness.

The regular Nordstrom's has nice casual pants but they are not that cheap.
