With New Years resolutions underway I'm sure many of you are looking to lose weight and/or eat more healthy in 2019. Curious how many of you have used or plan to use one of the planned meal delivery services and what you think of it. I used Hello Fresh for a few months last year, and although I liked the food, I found the food prep time to be more than I had bargained for.....everthing had to be chopped, diced, sliced, etc. So I stopped the service.

I'm thinking of starting again, but looking for a healthy food service that requires minimal prep time.

Been looking at these:

Hello Fresh (again)
Sun Basket
Blue Apron
Dinnerly
Plated
Hungry Root

Anyone try any of these? Others not listed? Did you like or dislike?

CF Lion - Look into Freshly. We've tried those other ones and find them to be a) not convenient b) not time effective and c) overpriced. Freshly was west coast based but opening on the east coast this month. You will be pleasantly surprised for sure. It's kind of awesome. www.freshly.com

Been a regular Blue Apron customer for almost 2 years. Love it. Tried Hello Fresh too, but didn't like thier choices as much. Not sure I've lost weight using it, but I like cooking and variety.

I've also done Blue Apron off and on over the past two or more years, mostly in the winter months when I do not do as much grilling outside. When I signed back up this past fall, I was pleasantly surprised that they have a 2 person/2 meal option. I do not recall that from last year. Also, Blue Apron recently teamed up with Weight Watchers and now offer even more choices including WW meals to make.
I have found BA to be good if you want to try different cultural cuisines without have to buy a whole jar of some exotic sauce that you may never use again!
Suggestion: read and re-read the recipe 1st. Prep all the ingrediants so they are ready to use. Have all the pots and bowls ready to use. I like it.

THIS is the most wonderful time of the year! I ate two Big Macs at McD's for $5.00 at lunch today and my local watering hole was operating at 50% capacity and offering 1/2 off specials. This allowed me to drink twice my normal 45 minute consumption before coming home to a wonderful meal cooked by "Wifey" at the same price!

God, do I love "resolution season". Don't worry, by Groundhog Day, you all will be back with me but you will have missed out on the specials! Then, I will hit the gym and work the treadmill over....

I’ve been trying hello fresh for the past month and really like it, I’m able to get my kids to cook dinner since I let them pick the meals and the instructions and ingredients are included! Note: i searched on “hello fresh” and found this old thread. :)

Following. I literally just started using Hello Fresh a few weeks ago and share your feedback about the prep time being more involved than I'd hoped. It's also a little more costly per serving than I'd like, but it's better quality meals than I'd normally make and I only plan to get 1-2 shipments per month so I view it as somewhat of a special dinner and can justify the cost. I had hoped it would be a bit more convenient, but the only 3 meals I've tried so far have been good quality at least.

If there are other options out there that cut down on the prep work and still have good meal variety and quality I may change to a different service. I'd really value a "meal prep" service that portions out 3-5 servings of the same item and comes with pre-chopped fresh ingredients and better recipes than the simple stuff I can meal prep on my own. I like to cook multiple portions of something on a Sunday and eat it throughout the week, eliminating the number of times I have too cook after work.

edit - just now realizing this is an old thread but would still be interested in similar recommendations.

They have deals all the time.. we rotate through them and pause subscriptions until we get a promo code.

Have used blue apron, hellofresh, plated, sun basket, home chef and Marley spoon. I don’t mind cooking, but some of the boxes for all services can take a while to cook. I’d say they all tend to underestimate the cook/prep times. Marley spoon has actually been our favorite, we just got through our 3rd box of a 4 box promo deal with them.. they have pretty big portion sizes.

One thing that I will throw out with freshly - food is good.. but if you are looking for healthy, I don’t know if this is the option. They load it up with salt as a preservative. I also found portion sizes to be small.
