If I were a network executive, rather than doing this, I'd be trying my hardest to get a group of 5 conference or two, at least, in warm weather climes to play football in Spring.

Built in fanbases

No FB competition

Can still award a national championship

No need to pay players

For those who say it's impossible because those teams would be out of bowl pool ... Bowls usually lose money for teams at lower levels, and here they'd have TV money and attention during slow sports season.

If it can't work there, they could do the same for some FCS teams and conferences. The cohesiveness and tradition of these teams playing in Spring would easily be better than any artificial XFL.

yeah that wouldn't screw with the recruiting calendar or the NFL draft or anything like that....not at all
