just saw Nats are making him available to trade. I’m kind of shocked. Isn’t he a huge name? I’m just a casual fan, but is he playing bad this year?
The Nats aren't competitive this year and his contract is up at the end of the year. He's probably going to ask for the highest contract in MLB history, and they likely can't afford it so they're probably looking for some prospects in return rather than getting nothing when he walks at years end.just saw Nats are making him available to trade. He’s a huge name, but he’s having a bad year (batting .220, though the power is still there).
The talent is immense, but he’s missed significant part of 3 of his 7 seasons, and his attitude wears me out at times.
They can afford him - Lerners are richest owners in baseball. The Nats aren't competitive this year and his contract is up at the end of the year. Wouldn’t it be dumb to trade top prospects for a guy that could only be a 2 month rental? I expect him to be a Yankee next year.
If they have the money AND he wants to stay there, you would think they would have extended his contract prior to this season. Perhaps they'll trade him then sign him back as a free agent. It's happened before. They can afford him - Lerners are richest owners in baseball.
Harper would never have been willing to sign before the season since he had all the leverage and really wanted to break the bank in free agency. As a Braves fan, I find him to be a dick. But hey, WWE proves we need bad guys too.Harper would never have been willing to sign before the season since he had all the leverage and really wanted to break the bank in free agency. Then this disastrous season happened
As a Nats fan, I feel the same way. I always wondered how popular he is amongst his teammates. As a Braves fan, I find him to be a dick. But hey, WWE proves we need bad guys too.
Oh, he’s a douche all right. As far as overpaying for superstars, as a Phillies fan give me South Philly guy Mike Trout all day over Harper - as a player and personAs a Braves fan, I find him to be a dick. But hey, WWE proves we need bad guys too.

That's very unlikely. NY has plenty of talented young outfielders. They don't need Harper. If anything, the Yankees may look for a top starter, however, they are pretty rare. Jordan Montgomery has been out all year and will be out about 1/2 of next year. That has really hurt. Next year they may just go with one of their young guys. German and Loaisiga have shown great promise and there are more in the pipeline, such as Sheffield and Adams.Wouldn’t it be dumb to trade top prospects for a guy that could only be a 2 month rental? Big fail for me - I knew that. I had my old stomping grounds (and site of my poor blown up front porch) on my mindSouth Jersey*![]()
