All right omniscient Lions Den, similar to Ryan buying a car, I'm saving for a fishing boat and want some advice. This will be my first boat and we are a family of 5. It's important that all 5 of us can be on the boat even if we aren't all fishing. Currently, I'm leaning towards a center console (probably around 20 to 22ft) because of the room and fish-ability. However, some ski and fish style boats could work, too. The boat needs to be trailer-able as well.
We can't afford a new boat, so it would be a used one. What should I look for/be aware of when buying a used boat? When is the best time? Early in season (late winter, early spring) or late (fall)? Aluminum v. Glass? What is too old for a used boat? Etc.
I'm up for any and all advice. And yes I know all the jokes and sayings about owning a boat. My boys love to fish and we have lots of access to freshwater fishing around us, so I really want to do this for the family.
