Thanks to all for the input. We had an unbelievable time. The weather was perfect and having locals to host us made it one of the best trips we've ever done.

TL;DR: So many parades. I didn't see anyone flashing. We stayed away from Bourbon St at night. I love tailgating at Penn State, but tailgating at Mardi Gras is next level due to the sheer numbers. Bacchus Rendezvous was fabulous. All-around great trip.

Metairie is more for families; therefore, you wouldn't get much flashing. Needed to go to the night parades in New Orleans.

Metairie is more for families; therefore, you wouldn't get much flashing. Needed to go to the night parades in New Orleans.

We stayed in Metairie but watched the parades in different locations. We purposely avoided the madness and we were happy we did. It goes to show that Mardi Gras can be family friendly too.
