My wife, son and I are coming to the west side of Cleveland - River!

- May 17 for a Confirmation celebration. I am thinking of hitting two places and would like your thoughts.

Arrive Friday night in the Peninsula/Boston Mills area and stay Friday and Saturday night. Spend Saturday taking in all Cuyahoga Valley National Park has to offer. We like to hike and take in nature, and I am thinking this is a good place to go for the day. (We have only seen it from the turnpike bridge while going to the Happiest of Valleys in Pennsylvania).
For lunch find a "local favorite" to get a bite, then get back to trails. Are there caves to visit in the park? The website made is seem there are, but I can't find anything definite.

For dinner, we get all gussied up and go to town for an old favorite from when I lived in Lakewood - 100th Bomb Group Restaurant. Is this still as good as it was in the past? For the money, is it worth revisiting?

Any ideas you have to add to this, feel free, and TIA.

Virginia Kendall Park is in the national park area

It has hiking trails with some interesting rock formations and Icebox Cave. Lived in the Akron canton area for about 9 years in the 80 ' s an fly that's where we would go. Look it up on the Internet. The website for the park has pictures and maps. I think that is what you are looking for.

I golf once in a while there, at Brandywine. There is a nice "Winking Lizard" and "Fishers". Fishers has a great warm pie and cold ice cream (sometimes peach, apple, etc depending upon the season). There people rent bikes, drive along the canal/train (this is part of the Erie Canal System) and take the train back. If the weather is nice, that's a fun day. I am unfamiliar with any caves though.

For the money, is it worth revisiting? I am assuming you are talking about the one near the airport. Still good, great cheese soup and fun to watch the planes. With CLE loosing the hub, not as many planes. Not great though. The guy that hired me out of college, dead now, was the lead navigator for the "bloody 100th" when the war ended. His name was Norm Graham and his nickname was "the kid". He believes he was the only nav to shoot down a german plane. He donated some stuff there and you can see his photo and name in some of the stuff on the walls. There are some other places I'd recommend. If you can make "The Melt" (Lakewood or off Rockside Rd) that's kind of cool. In River, I'd recommend a small Italian place named Bomba's Tacos and Rum. Sounds interesting.

Any ideas you have to add to this, feel free, and TIA. If it rains, consider the R&R Hall of Fame or the Rain Forest (at the zoo).
