OT: Comedies....your guilty pleasure........

Mickey Blue Eyes

Hugh Grant trying to talk like a mobster is funny.

Blind Date (written by Dale Launer, same guy who wrote My Cousin Vinny).

Basinger and Willis. She's a riot, tearing off suit jacket pockets.

Beerfest - "Cheeky bastards - they're not that drunk!"
Waiting... - "The goat"
Accepted - South Harmon Institute of Technology, "An explosion of flavor!"
Ted2 - "Celebrate? You mean like go down to the Improv and yell sad suggestions? Hell yeah!"

Best scenes involve Tobey the beagle...

"Look mom! Bare tit!"

I love the Jimmy Carter cut in "I hear you with unmistakable clarity". I use that line all the time

I can't find the scene where the girl with the Cowboy gets her dress caught - causing the topless scene and the family watching to freak out

Found it in Italian (3:40 and after is NSFW but hilarious)

Night of the Comet

I don't think their intent was for it to be a comedy, but I watch it as one.

We all have a movie or two that maybe we're embarrassed to admit that we really like.......the one that when it comes on TV you have to sit and watch.

Mine is Night Shift - 1982 with Michael Keaton, Henry Winkler and Shelly Long. Michael Keaton's breakout role.
Bad Santa.

Is it a guilty pleasure even if you're not embarrassed to admit you like it?

This is an oldie from 1989 I recently stumbled upon called Let it Ride. Never heard of it back then. It's a feel-good comedy but funnier if you're a horseplayer because these characters are at every racetrack. Dreyfus is funny...And Jennifer Tilly in the red dress, mmmm-mm.

I guess I mixed up this post with the other one calling for "obscure" movies, so I listed the comedies that are somewhat less famous. But if this about all comedies that are guilty pleasures, then for sure I've got to add in...

Animal House
Caddyshack
Stripes
MP's Holy Grail
MP's Life of Brian
Meatballs

Down and Out in Beverly Hills -- Nolte, Midler, Dreyfuss and the dog. Songs from the Talking Heads.

Watched it in a multiplex in Philly. Sinned by sneaking in next door and watching Hannah and Her Sisters. Went to a Catholic church nearby to confess my sin. Penance was two Hail Marys and a popcorn shell stuck to the roof of my mouth for a day. Hannah and Her Sisters wasn't worth it.

A Fish Called Wanda -- Kevin Kline, Jamie Leigh Curtis, John Cleese and Michael Palin.

Loved the Otto character -- Kline. "Don't call me stupid!!"

This thread is great

Reminds me of a lot of good flicks I had forgotten about.....gotta bookmark this for the next time I'm trying to find a diversion on NETFLIX

Obscure? There is a John Ritter film named 'skin deep' where he is obsessed with women. There is one particular scene where he goes to bed with a gal and she make him use one of her old boyfriends glow-in-the-dark condoms. I am not sure how good the rest of the movie is, but that scene is hilarious.

The other, but not so obscure, is napoleon dynamite. I was out with my sons and wanted to see a movie. It was the first night of the release and we'd never heard of it. It was a movie about teenage angst so thought my sons might like it. We never laughed so hard and I'll never forget that night.

Another good one is BIll Murray's "Meatballs". If you are a murray fan, this is in "must see" territory.

My third is "The Jerk" with Steve Martin..another is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Johnny dangerously
Dumb and dumber
Fletch
BASEktball
Either scary movie one or tWo (the scene where the gay wayans bro in the movie rapes the unsuspecting demonic clown still makes me cry)

Guilty pleasures ? So many great ones already mentioned.
I'd also have to go with Ben Stiller's Dodgeball ; A True Underdog Story and Starsky and Hutch

Spies Like Us - Love the 'Radical Vertical Impact Simulator' Scene...

Vanessa Angel as a Ruskie agent isn't so bad either.

Nacho Libre - wasn't quite the hit that Napolean Dynamite was but I love it's more nuanced approach to comedy. And just some straight up silly sh*t.....

Walk Hard - John C. Reilly is fantastic but the highlight for me is the weirdest Beatles scene you'll ever see...Jack Black as Paul McCartney, Paul Rudd as John Lennon, Justin Long as George Harrison and Jason Schwartzman as Ringo Starr....
